People had different habits, and even with the same mission, they handled things differently.
Some were used to turning in early to conserve their strength. Others were night owls, finding the long night especially hard to bear. Even if they were heading into battle tomorrow, they could not skip their usual nighttime activities.
Ronan had temporarily gathered the fighting strength of the Cave Engineering Camp, forming the Deep Blue Cluster. At the very least, its members came from two major systems: the field army and Huai City's Close Defense Force.
They had not known one another before, nor were they familiar with each other. Yet by a twist of fate, they had ended up together, gone through an airborne classroom journey across the Great Golden Triangle, and survived intact until now. They had to celebrate somehow.
With an excuse in place, some of the more sociable people headed to the Forward Base's military Activity Room and held a simple but lively mixer.
The military Activity Room belonged to the Close Defense Force and was relatively plain—or at least, it looked that way now. The organizers had originally wondered whether they could drag over a few Lake City Close Defense Force veterans to liven things up, but in the end, only service staff remained in the Activity Room and the entire rest area. It was truly clean and quiet.
There was no helping it. Other than eating, drinking, boasting, and flattering one another, they could only play cards or video games.
Even in the same venue, their habits remained distinctly different.
Some clutched their game consoles and would not let go;
Some enjoyed mutual boasting with new friends, expanding their connections;
Others still preferred gathering with old friends.
More than twenty people formed three or four circles.
As the highest-ranking "big
