The second task was complete.
Apart from the three essential pictures, Deng Chun had tossed in a few others at random, just to get it over with.
Then all he could do was wait quietly.
He looked calm, but inside, he was on fire.
Sometimes it was better not to see things too clearly, especially when everything was out of your hands and you desperately wanted something for yourself.
Deng Chun's thoughts were perfectly clear:
He had guessed how that man, the "God on Earth" who made people afraid even to sleep, was exerting influence over Lake City's existing power blocs and system of governance. He was not crushing them from outside with overwhelming force. He was starting with Hundred Peaks Monarch, a critical link in Lake City's governing system and chain of interests, and blowing it apart from within.
Granted, the idea of blowing things apart from within was nothing new. Wasn't that exactly what Lao Yao, the freshly appointed agent from a week ago, was doing?
The problem was that just as many people decided Lao Yao was the answer to this new situation, that man had apparently intervened through a dream in the most fundamental workings of Hundred Peaks Monarch and the Hundun Cult. He had unveiled his "new achievement":
Hundred Peaks Monarch.
A Hundred Peaks Monarch that seemed to have a personality, perhaps even divinity.
Deng Chun believed his reasoning was sound. The only thing he could not tell was whether he was getting ahead of events.
Given that man's standing, influence, and packed schedule, Deng Chun figured that releasing a "new achievement" in the Dreamscape Game amounted to a formal demonstration. He would hardly be playing a guessing game with everyone.
And yet, for Hundred Peaks Monarch to develop a personality
and become a deity
