Bonus Funds (Part 1)
Ronan was rather puzzled. He looked back, having done nothing in particular, yet Field Officer Yunbo seemed somewhat unable to handle the pressure.
Perhaps this was not a field Yunbo particularly excelled in. After several seconds of staring at each other, Yunbo was the first to change the subject, continuing in an especially casual tone. "What I mean is, don't get greedy. You did well on this project, so there'll definitely be rewards, but you can't expect to live off your past achievements for the rest of your life... Everything must be kept in moderation."
Ronan gave an "Oh," not wanting to engage with such a dull topic.
But Field Officer Yunbo had clearly come prepared and immediately moved into more practical territory. "This time, we didn't run into any Fire Rock Squid..."
"Can you use your brain before you speak?" That was not Ronan's response, but Bear Hunt Field Officer's over the comm channel. "Think this trip down has been too leisurely? When we really run into that thing later, let's see if you've got the nerve not to play dead!"
"Internal logistics team discussion. Unrelated personnel, keep quiet."
Bear Hunt and Yunbo exchanged profane greetings, and in the end, Yunbo opened a separate channel. "What I mean is, when Fire Rock Squid came up, Lieutenant Ronan, didn't it make you think of anything?"
Ronan honestly shook his head.
"Tsk, Team Mang would be so heartbroken at that reaction! Think about it. That tentacle, the souvenir from your first mission, has nearly finished 'decompressing.' Its expansion rate is quite high."
Ronan finally remembered. "Fire Rock Squid... Chaos Cannon."
"That's right, that one. Since the expansion rate is so high, we made the 'bomb' souvenirs Team Mang suggested, and there's still quite a bit left
