Wen Huilan spoke frankly.
By rights, Ronan's arrival in Lake City had stirred every Extraordinary Species at Lakeside Hotel. Lake City should have shown some response no matter what. Yet Gao Wenfu was nowhere to be seen, supposedly off visiting Jin City again, while Wen Huilan, whom Gao Wenfu had personally appointed to handle reception, had expressed nothing at all. It was somewhat discourteous.
But her words also revealed that Wen Huilan knew Ronan had arrived in Lake City and had deliberately turned a blind eye.
That was certainly frank enough, but it lacked finesse. It did not sound like something the "Wisdom Blade" should have said.
Still, Ronan rather appreciated her speaking this way. This was how frankness ought to be. If nothing else, this attitude was far better than that hard-working "actor" on Three Peaks Top last month.
As for whether Wen Huilan had done so deliberately, or whether nearly a month of reflection had truly brought her some insight, that remained to be seen.
Ronan smiled. "You really are hesitant. You have a lot on your mind. Hmm, it seems you've never entered the Dream World, but staying out of dreams isn't a foolproof way to keep secrets."
"Lady Mora said the same thing."
As she spoke, Wen Huilan rose and strolled from beneath the floor-to-ceiling window to the small bar at the other end of the living room, casually asking, "Would you like something to drink?"
She rather looked like she was entertaining a guest.
Ronan replied, "Anything."
"Wine?"
"Oh."
After Ronan's indifferent, vague response, Wen Huilan soon returned with two cups. She handed one directly to Ronan, then sat down herself.
On the long-pile carpet by Ronan's feet, where there was a soft cushion.
Judging by her relaxed posture, she likely sat like this regularly.
