As a Professional, Deputy Director Liu Xuezhi laid out the full sequence of events clearly: half an hour earlier, Jiang Yi had gone to a Logistics Park in the Northern Suburbs to discuss business. A sudden conflict broke out, and Jiang Yi was unfortunately caught in the crossfire, dying on the spot. The reason it had turned out so tragically was that both sides in the conflict had "professional violent operatives" involved.
It sounded like an ordinary accidental injury case, except that someone had died.
Though the identity of the deceased was rather sensitive.
Tang Li gave a noncommittal grunt and did not respond immediately.
After all, this sort of thing happened every moment of every day on Outer Earth. There was no Inner World here; violence and chaos existed openly on the surface. Modified Humans, enhanced humans, and those with authority openly walked the world, enjoying privileges beyond ordinary people—or being hunted down and killed, waging war against one another. Jiang Yi running into something like this could only be called bad luck.
Liu Xuezhi had not called merely to report Jiang Yi's death. "The Logistics Park reported it very late. We actually received the news after Jiang Ke did—Jiang Yi's Brother, Colonel Tang Yu's adjutant. He just called me. He wasn't in a good mood and is already heading to the scene. From the sounds on his end, he was probably on a helicopter. He seemed very urgent."
"What the hell are the nearby Security Teams and Joint Defense Teams doing?" Tang Li rebuked them reflexively. In any case, they were not under Liu Xuezhi's jurisdiction, so there was no point dwelling on it.
What Tang Li did catch was the implication Liu Xuezhi had left unspoken:
Jiang Yi himself was a nobody. Whether he lived or died
