Tao Ju looked at Pawa in astonishment. He felt that Pawa had to be hinting at something, but on second thought, perhaps he had misunderstood.

"Weren't you trying to kill Tang Li?"

"No, at least not now." Pawa actually denied it flatly. "At first, I was only following orders to teach him a lesson. Then I screwed up, things escalated, and Tang Yu screwed me over. Later, I really did want to kill him, but that was to prove myself. Now things have changed. Tang Yu has become the greatest threat to me, so I'd rather make trouble for that guy. And this time, I should've succeeded."

After a brief pause, Pawa smiled even more happily. "That Tang Li—he probably had some ideas of his own too. Did he succeed as well?"

Tao Ju recalled instinctively. Tang Li had said from the very beginning that they needed to "find a way in," that they needed to get the Great District Center's higher-ups to notice them... Now, perhaps they really had succeeded?

And so, he felt that Pawa's words made a lot of sense.

So all the twists and turns from yesterday until now—were Tang Li and Pawa "working together"?

Or perhaps it was cooperation that did not need quotation marks?

Pawa slapped the steering wheel and laughed. "See? If this isn't Tacit Understanding, what is?"

That had to be a lie, right?

At the very least, the Ladybug Platform's Suicide Drones had genuinely swept the area clean. That was a variable Tang Li could not possibly control.

How could anyone use their own life as a bargaining chip?

Truth and lies, substance and illusion—it left Tao Ju thoroughly bewildered.

Yet he could not help saying that if what Pawa said was true, if there really was "Tacit Understanding" and "cooperation"
