He came to the skies above Mo City, positioning himself even higher than the aerial traffic lanes as he looked down upon this coastal city, whose layout was entirely different from Xia City's.
Mo City had yet to fully recover from the traumatic stress of that morning, but it was still functioning. Driven by people's will and desires, trillions of tons of lifeless matter and countless other living creatures formed a jungle of steel and concrete, transforming into buildings, machinery, meals, and all manner of other facilities revolving around urban society.
Was this, too, nothingness?
Were the confusion, fear, anxiety, and relief of this city's more than two hundred million residents merely bubbles in a dream?
Ronan knew the thought experiment of the "Brain in a Vat." The Inner Universe Simulator also had descriptions of similar stages. But as a cultivator, if he could not even distinguish reality from illusion, the real world from dreams, then all effort was nothing more than a joke.
Was he a joke?
Had his Grandfather, Father, and Mother struggled and sacrificed for such a joke as well?
Ronan slowly shook his head, dispelling those meaningless emotional fluctuations. Yet his heart remained full of questions.
He turned his gaze toward the spired building below. The Justice Chief Priest was presiding over the Cult's High Priest Meeting, discussing the upcoming cooperation arrangements and the specific candidates to carry them out.
Ronan did not care about the meeting's progress, nor even its outcome. His thoughts drifted onward, to the three successive rounds of Blood Sacrifice displayed by the Balance of Truth.
It was a ritual that required the sacrifice of tens
