The Central Business District, the Twelve Great Districts High-Energy Affairs Management Center's newest office location, was bustling with staff like diligent worker ants. Moving here from the building they had worked in for years was one thing when it came to reallocating office space, but much of the equipment could not be installed properly. Some functions they had long taken for granted only revealed missing components when they suddenly needed to use them. It was truly difficult to get everything right, and everything felt awkward.
There was no helping it. The old office building had collapsed, and no one wanted to linger beside the ruins where so many colleagues had been buried. The entire General Office had been run ragged, scouting locations from every direction before finally moving into this temporary site. Yet they still had not enjoyed a single peaceful day.
Xing Yuanjiang, a senior technical expert at the Great District Center who had transferred to the General Office after being injured, was particularly ill-suited to this fast-paced work. Logically, with his seniority, he could argue a point or two even with division chiefs and directors, and no longer needed to work on the front lines. But everyone else was too busy today, so they could only have him fill in and take meeting notes or something similar.
Xing Yuanjiang knew the general circumstances of this meeting. He was somewhat unwilling, but he did not say anything. Feeling his way to the small conference room in the new office area, he saw the two attendees who had arrived ahead of him.
This was more or less an oversight, but Xing Yuanjiang no longer cared.
He found a chair and sat down, nodding greetings to the two men. They were:
