"Damn it, this was a real nightmare!"
Sang Gui had hurried back to work "overtime," never expecting to face a situation like this.
On the global real-time monitoring system, above East 824 District, the shockwaves and light radiation from the early stage of the nuclear blast had already dissipated. The radioactive fallout had been pushed into the isothermal layer, making it difficult for it to settle anytime soon. At least during this most punitive and intimidating phase, those natives below could celebrate their narrow escape.
Whether those natives actually did so in reality, it was certainly not a situation Sang Gui—or the "planetary management team"—wanted to see. And this was only the problem in East 824 District. Across the planet beneath their feet, in other regions that had not suffered nuclear strikes, even more suffocating reports kept coming in.
All medium-range automatic launch platforms in the Twelve Great Districts have been locked down. Medium-range launch platforms in the Seventh, Eighth, Eleventh, and Thirteenth Districts continue to report losses. Intercontinental launch platforms in the First and Fifteenth Districts report a 75% loss rate. Platform 224 in the Fifth District launched successfully... intercepted during the boost phase. Launch site destroyed.
Artificial Intelligence calmly relayed the status of missile launch platforms around the world. This was already the result of multiple sources being consolidated; the raw error reports had been a glaring sea of red that made one frantic.
Sang Gui looked once more at his immediate superior.
Iseki naturally sensed it, but he said nothing and gave no response, forcing Sang Gui to continue trying according to the previous orders through sheer silence. Yet the indulgence he had deliberately shown over the years had now borne bitter fruit. Sang Gui ignored workplace protocol and shouted, "Supervisor, even the atmospheric launch
