Fei Long tried hard to make it out, but all he could "hear" afterward was a different sort of noise—the background sound of the Mental Ocean, the aggregation and resonance of the most basic thoughts from two billion people on Outer Earth, along with some living beings that barely possessed any mental activity.
After listening for a long time, part of the "noise" finally began to grow clear. It was the name Fei Long had previously been half-suspicious, half-certain of:
"Ronan!"
More and more people in the Mental Ocean were chanting that name. Like Fei Long, most were still confused, yet for all sorts of reasons in thought and reality, they began attaching other elements to it—curiosity, fear, malice, perhaps even expectation...
This was nothing unusual. Fei Long knew well that the mapping of sect faith-power structures was mostly like this: starting from nothing, growing from little to much, piling ever thicker until, like five-colored clay, it molded a twisted, blurry image that could arise at any moment and vanish just as quickly. Only established forces like the Lost Kingdom and the Black Sun Sect would strive to straighten out the relevant image, hoping to guide and exploit their followers' faith power to achieve various ends.
Was that Ronan going to do the same?
Fei Long tried to trace it back, but trapped amid Magnetic Light and Lightning Fire, his conscious judgment remained distorted. How could he possibly manage it?
As the distortion deepened, he felt space and time turn upside down, the boundary between the Material Layer and Mental Layer already muddled. Endless Magnetic Light and Lightning Fire surrounded him. Every perception had to receive the "approval" of Magnetic Light and Lightning Fire before it could function.
In this world, Fei Long had no true body
