What was going on?
Other than in "Virtual Reality," Loren had never had a pitch-black gun barrel pointed at him before. For a moment, he could barely tell reality from illusion.
In his daze, he even analyzed it: this standard special police Disintegration Gun had a distinctive Four Corner Star-shaped muzzle. One shot could basically tear an unarmored target to pieces. It was a true weapon of destruction, issued only for dealing with the most vicious criminals.
Who was vicious? Well, there were supposedly some "inhumane" research projects on the Laboratory side.
But this was a Laboratory under Xi Corporation. It could lay people off, it could go bankrupt, but for a huge force of special police to storm in... how could that be possible?
And if they were all equipped like this, did that gunshot just now mean someone had already died?
With so much running through his head, Loren genuinely froze. Then a furious roar rang out beside his ear:
"Hands up!"
Only then did Loren snap back to his senses and hurriedly raise his hands as ordered.
At the desk, Madhavir had already skillfully raised his hands to signal the special police and slowly stood from his seat.
"You, come here first!" The special police officer ordered Loren in a muffled voice through his Exoskeleton Armor.
Like a walking corpse, Loren obeyed. Madhavir had also lost his usual casualness and obediently followed behind him.
Escorted by the muzzles of the special police officers' guns, the two had barely stepped out of the office when another dull gunshot rang through the building. It was close, seemingly on the same floor.
Loren's heart clenched.
