Tai Yu woke from sleep and sat at the edge of the bed, somewhat dazed.
A knock sounded at the door. Someone had knocked right on schedule, then pushed the door open directly. The edge of the wheelchair bumped into the doorframe, but its occupant did not care.
It could only be Officer Kuller. Looking as though he were on the verge of a heart attack from fury, he did not even see where Tai Yu was before shouting, "That spineless coward Lu Yang is really dead! He'd barely arrived at the Boundary Curtain when they slapped him with a God Breaker charge, saying he resisted arrest. What the hell is the Boundary Curtain doing?!"
Officer Kuller's reaction was, in fact, much the same as when Lu Yang had left.
It was obviously somewhat unreasonable, but emotions had no right or wrong either.
Tai Yu's response was rather calm. He merely said, "Oh," then asked, "Is there a detailed report? Does Field Officer Sheng Wu know?"
"What report? They've always had that fucking attitude of 'we've already done you a favor by telling you.' If the liaison staff at the office hadn't sent word back in time, we could ask them all we wanted and they wouldn't give us so much as a response!"
Kuller was not angry solely because of Lu Yang's death. He was also angry because Lu Yang had died for nothing, died like a joke.
Tai Yu understood that, but said nothing more. He merely nodded to Officer Kuller. "I understand. Wait a moment."
As he spoke, he reached up and made a grasping motion above his left shoulder. The Spacetime Bubble—perhaps one of the areas with the highest concentration of wealth in Star Ring City—appeared and was caught in his hand.
