"You mean... Rock Monkeys?"
"Maybe. They don't seem like real Reckless People."
The facts proved that Gideon and Du Tang had indeed developed a Tacit Understanding.
Gideon was also beginning to suspect that his previous judgment had been wrong. The key lay in the concept of "Rock Monkeys."
"Rock Monkeys" were a species of native animal in the Boundary Curtain region. It was said that they had nearly been hunted to extinction hundreds of millions of years ago, with a few later bred in nature reserves.
There was nothing unusual about this protected species, and its own survival capabilities were rather poor. But two years ago, an error in a certain forbidden experiment caused several poisonous experimental Rock Monkeys to escape and hide within a nature reserve.
Such incidents were not uncommon, and the subsequent developments were very much in keeping with the Boundary Curtain region's usual style—at least, the first half was.
The Laboratory involved first covered it up. When that became impossible, it tried to downplay the matter, only to be publicly disproven. Then... there was no then for that Laboratory.
By the time the incident blew up, those special Rock Monkeys had already spread through massive, explosive infection and reproduction in a short period, becoming a full-blown disaster.
Most importantly, the area where they infected and reproduced was near the Main Star System residential district of the Boundary Curtain region. It was even adjacent to several Big Shots' manors.
Once those "Poison Rock Monkeys," far superior to their "original ancestors," invaded the residential district, their innate gifts of high agility, potent venom, and extreme infectivity immediately unleashed a wave of chaos.
The "original Rock Monkeys" only had skills in cave-dwelling and scaling sheer cliffs. Their other abilities were quite ordinary.
Based on the situation at the time,
