Through his binoculars, Haozi saw a scene that defied belief: twenty-four special ability users had pinned down a zombie horde sixty thousand strong, leaving it no room to breathe.
None of those special ability users had suffered any injuries.
No! They had never even fought the zombies at close quarters. Using ranged weapons and terrain, they had kept a horde of over sixty thousand trapped beyond the pit!
"Would anyone believe me if I reported this?"
Haozi rubbed his eyes, checked the battlefield again, and decided to give his captain an honest report.
"Calling Captain!"
"How's the situation? Is the zombie horde about to break through? When are they retreating? Go out and coordinate with them directly in a moment. Just identify yourselves. The sooner they retreat, the safer we'll be."
"Wait-wait a second, Captain!" Haozi had to interrupt his captain's nonstop chatter. "Well... I don't think they'll be retreating anytime soon."
"They aren't retreating? What stunt are they pulling now? Are people still playing out that whole 'live and die with our home' drama at a time like this? Heavenly Net headquarters has stressed repeatedly over the radio that preserving human life comes first!"
Haozi looked as though he had a toothache. "Boss, you might not believe this, but the zombie horde... they've completely suppressed it. It can't get anywhere near them."
"Huh???"
Iron Fist, leader of Vanguard Team One, froze on the spot.
"Senior Colonel Xia, this is Iron Fist from Team One."
"How's the situation? The zombie horde hasn't breached the defenses yet, has it? Are your people in position? Don't wait until things turn critical to show yourselves. Make contact early. They aren't inflexible people. Commander Hu gave us strict orders: we must protect the Technology Special Ability User who may be there!"
