It's a story set before the apocalypse, and pretty much all the characters you're familiar with now will appear.
Actually, these people had all met before the apocalypse; those meetings had simply been forgotten with time.
The annoying thing is, I wrote 7,000 Chinese characters for the side story, but the system only allows side stories of up to 5,000 characters.
So that left me in an awkward spot.
That's why I posted the first 5,000 characters in the side story section. I'll put the remaining 2,000-plus characters in the readers' group. You can join the QQ group to read them (the group number is in the synopsis; anyone with a fan score of 1,000 or higher can apply with one click).
None of it costs anything. You can unlock it by casting two monthly votes through the Qidian app.

I got so absorbed in writing the side story that I kept writing more and more, and it kept getting more fun, so today's main-story update will, uh, be a little shorter.
Yep, a hundred million bits shorter.
The side story counts toward the word count too, right? And those are free words, at that. How about we count that as me posting 7,000 characters today?
