In the Jiffonora Sea Tree Forest, which was filled with Danger Beasts, the fact that Luring Man-Eating Flowers could devour wild animals and even Danger Beasts proved that the biting force of their petals was no joke.
But strength was relative. Broly easily pried apart the petals of the man-eating flower that had bitten down on the Girl calling for help and rescued her.
The Girl fell to the ground, then scrambled and crawled to the edge of the flower patch, reaching the Twin-Eyed Sisters with a look of lingering terror.
Do good deeds without leaving your name behind. Call me Red Scarf!
With that thought appearing in his mind, Broly jumped down from the man-eating flower's petals. But before he could land, the Luring Man-Eating Flower whose prey he had stolen opened its petal-lined maw behind him and swallowed him whole.
After Broly was swallowed, the flower bud trembled once. But that was all—there was no further movement inside.
"That idiot."
Akame waited at the edge of the flower patch for a while. When she did not see the Boy come out, she could not help cursing.
"Kurome, stay here."
"Older Sister, what are you going to do?"
"I'm going to save him," Akame said.
"Why bother with him?"
Kurome grabbed Akame. She did not want her Older Sister to take such a risk.
"He saved us. I have to repay him."
"Then I'll go save him with you."
Akame could not convince her Younger Sister to remain somewhere safe, so she could only bring her along.
However, Luring Man-Eating Flowers were only dangerous when they had not eaten. While feeding, they ignored creatures passing by outside.
The man-eating flower that had swallowed Broly was on the outer edge, and the surrounding man-eating flowers all had something in their mouths. The two sisters encountered no danger as they approached the terrifying giant flower.
However, they could not simply force open the flower's mouth like Broly had. They could only raise their Small Knives and hack at the man-eating flower's stem.
Plants could not feel pain. Although it was a dangerous plant, it did not react at all. The two sisters spent some effort before cutting off the upper half of the man-eating flower.
Then they continued stabbing the thick petals with their Small Knives. After struggling for a while longer, they finally opened a small window in the petals.
"Are you okay?"
Akame poked her head through the small opening and called inside.
"I'm fine."
Broly answered from within.
"If you're fine, what are you doing in there? Why aren't you coming out?"
Kurome also stood on tiptoe and leaned toward the little opening as she asked.
"I'm drinking something. I'm almost done, and I'll come out right away."
He said right away, and it truly was right away. Broly pushed open the giant flower bud from the inside.
"What were you drinking?"
Seeing that he was unharmed, Akame let out a sigh of relief, while Kurome asked.
"I don't know, but I saved some for you. It's sweet and fragrant—really good. Try it."
Broly held a soft inner petal in his hand, containing some sparkling liquid that carried the scent of flowers.
This was the nectar of the Luring Man-Eating Flower. Normally, the plant relied on its nectar to attract creatures that wanted to drink it.
Powerful creatures could enjoy it for free, while weaker ones would be eaten as prey by the Luring Man-Eating Flower. It was somewhat like a combination of a pitcher plant and a Venus flytrap.
The Twin-Eyed Sisters: "..."
The two of them had been thinking about saving someone, while the person they had saved had been drinking inside.
"Sweet. Older Sister, this is good."
Kurome was young and could not resist taking a sip.
"Don't just drink random things. What if it's poisonous?"
Akame Scolded her, but she also tasted it.
The sisters both had the traits of foodies. Before long, they had shared and finished the nectar Broly had brought out from the flower bud.
The rescued Girl stared blankly at the scene, but quickly came back to her senses.
"Can you help save my Older Sister? She was eaten by the flower beside us," she pleaded.
Akame and Kurome looked at each other. They had already noticed that the dangerous giant flowers did not attack people while they were eating.
Just as they were about to agree to help, Broly moved even faster. He directly pulled down the Luring Man-Eating Flower beside them and pried open its petal-lined maw with brute force.
He reached inside, grabbed a foot, and pulled the Girl out. But by then, the Girl he pulled out had already stopped breathing.
"Older Sister!"
The rescued girl ran over and tearfully hugged the girl on the ground. Akame walked over. "I've seen people who drowned before. She might be unable to breathe because of something inside the flower bud."
"Can you save my older sister?"
"I don't know, but I can try."
Recalling what she had seen adults do to save drowning victims, Akame began administering first aid to the girl who had stopped breathing.
"Cough, cough..."
After Broly drained the nectar from another man-eating flower and squeezed out of its bud, the girl's older sister was actually revived.
"There are others."
Broly liked sweet things, and since he could drink nectar while saving people, he had no reason to refuse.
As a result, the Luring Man-Eating Flowers here suffered a disaster. The food they had only recently swallowed was now forcibly taken away.
A total of seven children were rescued. Aside from one particularly unlucky girl who had plunged headfirst into the nectar and nearly drowned in it, everyone else was still alive when they were rescued.
Broly gained another five man-eating flowers containing delicious liquid. However, rather than drink them immediately, he removed the buds with nectar at their centers, looking as though he intended to pack them up and take them away.
Broly had originally wanted to pack up even more buds, but after opening one man-eating flower bud that still contained undigested beast bones and smelling the foul stench coming from its nectar, he gave up on continuing to try his luck.
The nectar of Luring Man-Eating Flowers was essentially a digestive fluid. While digesting things, it was corrosive, foul-smelling, and unpleasant to drink.
"With so much stuff, how are you planning to carry it all by yourself?"
Seeing the boy's eagerness to take every large and small bundle with him, Akame could not help asking.
"Hmm..."
Broly was indeed a little troubled. The miscellaneous items were not heavy, but they took up quite a bit of space.
"I've got it."
But Broly quickly came up with an idea and handed the basin-sized flower buds to the rescued children.
"Help me carry things and follow me. I can give you something to eat later."
The three boys and four girls looked at one another. Since Broly had rescued them from the mouths of the man-eating flowers, they had no objections.
"Wait, where are you going? Isn't that toward the center of the forest?"
However, Broly was heading in a rather strange direction, so Akame asked.
"I heard some sounds. There should be prey over there."
The delicious nectar had awakened Broly's hunting instincts, and he planned to look for new prey.
He did not know where prey could be found. There were too many complicated traces of Qi throughout the forest.
However, he had ears, and his hearing was fairly sharp. He could pick up some of the sounds within the forest.
And so, Broly led a group of children around his own age and began an unstoppable hunting spree in the Jiffonora Sea Tree Forest, which was teeming with Danger Beasts.
Of course, he was the only one responsible for hunting. Everyone else was there to help carry the ingredients.
"Save—"
Smack~
"Help me carry things. I can give you a bite to eat later."
During this time, children who had been treated as prey by Danger Beasts were also saved when Broly hunted down the beasts pursuing them.
They then naturally became ingredient porters for this strange hunting party.
Compared to braving a forest full of dangers, following the powerful Broly was obviously much safer—not to mention that he had said he would share food with them.
The Jiffonora Sea Tree Forest was enormous. Throwing several hundred children into it was like tossing stones into a lake; it would not raise even the slightest ripple.
A large portion of the children had died shortly after entering the forest. Those who had lasted until now were children with fairly good skills and luck.
"What's going on? Why hasn't a single person come out yet?"
Near dusk, Bill was growing anxious in the clearing at the center of the forest.
"Don't be impatient. Although this forest has no particularly powerful Danger Beasts, the density of low-level Danger Beasts is extremely high. It is difficult enough for the children who rely purely on luck to be eliminated. It is normal that no one has come out yet. Let's wait a little longer."
Goeschi said this, and only when the sky had darkened did several children finally emerge from the trees and arrive here.
