Background / History

Taiichi was born into an impoverished Kou Country family. He left school early and performed dock labor to support his sick mother, while his alcoholic father, Kosaka Jizhong, regularly stole his wages, squandered household money, and physically abused him. Taiichi secretly hid earnings in a flower bed to buy medicine for his mother. 184

When Jizhong discovered the hidden money and demanded it, Taiichi refused for the first time, enduring a severe beating rather than surrendering the funds meant for his mother's treatment. 184 After his father stole his wages again at a gambling house, Taiichi snapped: he cut off his own hand and killed Jizhong with a cleaver. 185

He was imprisoned, then released early after awakening anomalous abilities. He entered the Anomalous World, became a Great Lord, and was dispatched to Dragon Country. Despite this rank, his humble origins made him a target of discrimination from powerful Great Lord families, especially Xiao Xiaojun and Daikoku Yota. 185 186

Daikoku Yota later used Taiichi's mother as leverage, forcing him to compromise despite his resentment. This experience cemented Taiichi's hatred of the Kou-system's powerful families and its hierarchy. 186

Personality

Taiichi is survival-driven, calculating, and highly adaptable. When Su Chen captures him, he gives information under threat and gradually turns against the Kou-system because he considers survival more important than loyalty. 160 175

His cooperation is also ambitious: he initially hopes that Su Chen will eliminate the other Great Lords, leaving Taiichi as the strongest remaining Great Lord. 162 170 However, his hatred of the families that humiliated and threatened him is genuine, particularly where his mother is concerned. 186 193

He is fearful of overwhelming power and careful around Su Chen, but he can be vindictive and cruel toward enemies. He proposes using his Puppet Technique to control, imprison, kill, or dispose of a captured intelligence operative. 170

Taiichi ambushes Su Chen with numerous puppets, including super puppets designed to withstand Rank 5 Anomalous Persons. Su Chen destroys the encirclement, captures him, and compels him to reveal information about the Great Lords. 159 160

Taiichi leads Su Chen to Daikoku Yota while pretending to have captured Su Chen. He attacks Yota with Puppet Technique: Array Machine Kill, but Yota overwhelms him until Su Chen intervenes. 161 162

Betrayal of the Kou-system

After Yota's defeat, Taiichi offers to act as bait for the other Great Lords, calculating that their deaths could elevate his own status. 162 He later helps Su Chen infiltrate an intelligence outpost, locate Void, and handle a captured operative. 170

Taiichi openly admits that he fears betrayal being discovered, but fears death more; he claims that following Su Chen and Dragon Country gives him his only chance to be treated as a person. 175
