After leaving the Small Valley, Gu He fully unleashed his Dou Qi. The terrifying aura of a Dou Emperor poured recklessly into the forest ahead of him. The low-tier Magical Beasts in the area could not withstand the pressure and fell to the ground, whimpering. Only Magical Beasts above the Third Tier could barely remain standing.
Such brazen progress undoubtedly enraged a Fifth Tier Magical Beast feeding nearby. It smashed the food in its mouth with one paw and let out a terrifying roar. The sound wave carried the beast's savage aura, snapping nearby trees in half, while even the distant wild grass was blown flat against the ground. The roar also drew Gu He's attention. He stopped in midair and looked toward its source.
A seven- or eight-meter-tall Demon Bear rose onto its hind legs and roared angrily at Gu He again. Then it dropped to all fours and charged at him. Every step left four millstone-sized pits in the ground. Trees blocking its path were all knocked over, and even trees slightly too close to its route had their bark torn apart by the terrifying wind pressure, leaving ugly scars across their trunks. Its unstoppable momentum was enough that even a Peak Dou Wang would have to avoid its edge.
Gu He's expression grew slightly solemn. He had not expected such bad luck—he had encountered a Peak Dou Wang Magical Beast while it was feeding as soon as he came out. Generally, when a Magical Beast's meal was interrupted, its urge to attack became far stronger than usual. No wonder this Demon Bear was so frenzied.
However, he had been unable to reveal his true strength for so long that, in this uninhabited Monster Mountain Range, he could not help fully unleashing his Dou Qi and attracting such a Magical Beast. Gu He did not blame himself. Let alone a Fifth Tier Magical Beast, so what if he drew out a Sixth Tier one? He would fight it. As long as a Dou Emperor did not provoke a swarm of Magical Beasts into attacking together, there were few places he could not go.
End this quickly. Don't waste too much strength on it and affect my performance against the Sixth Tier Magical Beast later, Gu He murmured inwardly.
He clenched his hand, and his Dou Qi rippled. Moments later, it condensed into a pale violet longsword in his palm. Then the Dou Qi within his body surged wildly, making the blade tremble strangely and violently. As the sword continued to shake, one afterimage after another instantly appeared before him.
Thousand Flame Sword Qi!
In only a few breaths, sword shadows filled the sky before Gu He. With a flick of his arm, he thrust the longsword heavily forward. The countless sword shadows then shot toward the Demon Bear in a torrent, like floodwaters bursting through a dam.
The Demon Bear also sensed the terrifying power contained within them. It came to an abrupt halt, rose onto its hind legs, and wildly pounded its chest with both fists. Its eyes turned bloodshot as it opened its maw to an astonishing width. Terrifying Dou Qi fluctuations gathered in its mouth, and soon, the Dou Qi formed a visible current flowing into the dark crimson energy sphere hovering within its jaws. When the energy sphere left its mouth, a destructive energy fluctuation spread through the Monster Mountain Range. Within ten miles, every Magical Beast and animal felt impending disaster and fled madly outward.
Sensing that the countless sword shadows were about to strike, the Demon Bear could not wait for the energy sphere to reach its greatest power and fired it straight at Gu He.
Even Gu He did not dare underestimate the desperate strike of a peak Fifth Tier Magical Beast. After roughly gauging the energy sphere's destructive force, he split half the sword shadows away to collide with and cancel it out, while the remaining half continued shooting toward the Demon Bear.
The energy sphere was incredibly fast and immensely destructive, briefly creating a vacuum in the space it passed through. Fortunately, Gu He's sword shadows were not slow, and he had launched his attack first. Streams of sword shadows struck the energy sphere without pause. By the time it reached Gu He, most of its destructive power had already been eliminated, leaving it barely equivalent to a Da Dou Shi's full-force strike. Gu He dispelled it with a casual wave.
The Demon Bear was not so fortunate. Launching the energy sphere had already taken a heavy toll on its body. After dodging several scattered sword shadows at the beginning, it could no longer evade the dense swarm that followed and could only endure them with repeated roars. By the end, only weak growls could emerge from its mouth.
Sensing the Demon Bear's weakened state, Gu He descended from the air. Its body was now covered in wounds deep enough to expose bone, making it look exceptionally miserable. It was hard to imagine that not long ago, this had been an overbearing peak Fifth Tier Magical Beast.
Though grievously wounded and on the verge of death, the Demon Bear's eyes remained full of defiance. It roared at Gu He, its voice weak but its stubbornness undiminished.
Gu He sighed. Knowing it would be difficult to subdue this Magical Beast, he flicked his sword, and the Demon Bear's enormous head fell to one side. After extracting its Magic Core and storing several valuable materials from its body in his Ring, Gu He decided to be more cautious and quietly seek out the Sixth Tier Magical Beast, lest something else go wrong.
For the rest of the journey, Gu He deliberately restrained his aura. No further accidents occurred, and he peacefully arrived at the mountain where the Sixth Tier Magical Beast resided.
Once here, Gu He no longer feared disturbing these Magical Beasts. Given a Sixth Tier Magical Beast's pride, it would certainly personally crush an invading enemy rather than send all its subordinates together. Otherwise, under the Magical Beasts' simple law of the jungle, its subordinates would surely refuse to submit. After all, a leader who could not display strength was practically encouraging its subordinates to challenge it.
The only concern was that, if he failed, he would have to consider pursuit by the other Magical Beasts when leaving. Fortunately, there was a river nearby. If he could not win, he could use the river to escape.
Gu He fully released his aura, and violet Dou Qi nearly blanketed the entire sky.
Roar!
A great roar immediately came from the mountaintop. It lacked the Demon Bear's savagery, yet carried an indescribable majesty. The beast's roar rolled through the nearby forest.
Gu He's expression turned solemn as he stared at the enormous cave at the summit, excitement whispering through his heart. It's coming, it's coming. Let me see what a Sixth Tier Magical Beast looks like.
The first thing to enter his sight was a rather ferocious lion's head: blood-red beast pupils gleaming with strange violet light, a massive mouth full of fangs, and a fiery red spiral horn atop its head. Clusters of violet flames curled around the horn's tip. On the back of its huge lion body was a pair of violet wings. With every flap, clusters of pale violet flames swept forth. As its four thick claws moved, fine cracks appeared in the mountain, making it difficult to imagine how great its strength was. Its seven- or eight-meter-long body was covered in a layer of violet crystals that looked extremely sturdy. Under the sunlight, they radiated a dazzling brilliance, making it appear both noble and savage.
Gu He froze slightly. This was actually an old acquaintance—the Purple Crystal Winged Lion King. It was the first Sixth Tier Magical Beast to appear in the original story and could almost be considered Yun Yun and Xiao Yan's matchmaker. It wounded Yun Yun, a Dou Emperor, giving Xiao Yan the chance to save a beauty. It sent Magical Beasts to search for them, and just as Yun Yun went out to bathe, a Magical Beast sensed her, giving Xiao Yan another chance to play the hero and win Yun Yun's heart. Then Xiao Yan was injured while playing the hero, and while he was recovering and grilling fish, Yun Yun mistook an aphrodisiac for seasoning. What happened afterward thoroughly engraved Xiao Yan's image into Yun Yun's heart.
Gu He felt that this battle no longer needed a reason. That alone was enough for him to give the Purple Crystal Winged Lion King a thorough beating.
