Ruthlessness (Thanks to Pumpkin Won't Run for the Alliance Leader) Another Dark Green Corrosive Light Orb shot out. A plump, thinning-haired man wearing Crystal Glasses among the gray-robed figures failed to dodge in time, and the dark green orb grazed his arm.
Before the man could react, a fat woman standing beside him let out a terrified scream.
The beautiful Half-Elf wizard dashed forward, pulled a dagger from his robes, and swiftly chopped at the man. Blood sprayed as an arm corroded down to gleaming white bone fell to the ground. Clutching his wound, the man rolled about in agony.
"Qiao Lin!"
The plump woman rushed over with reddened eyes, hugging the man as tears streamed down her face.
A trace of reluctance appeared on the handsome Half-Elf wizard's face as he turned to look in Linas's direction.
Seeing that the latter was still chanting under his breath, concern immediately flashed across his face.
At that moment, an inexplicable wave of energy spread across the field.
The Half-Elf wizard looked up and saw the Black Robe Wizard standing in the center of the clearing slowly raise his staff.
The staff, seemingly pieced together from several overlapping skulls, emitted a faint, cold glow.
The Half-Elf wizard's heart skipped a beat. He hastily raised his own staff and began chanting rapidly.
At the same time, Linas, who had kept his eyes shut in focused spellcasting, suddenly opened them.
A powerful energy field almost on par with that of the Black Robe Wizard surged from his body. Icy blue light bloomed in Linas's eyes, and his wizard's robe billowed.
"It's finally ready!"
Joy flashed through the Half-Elf wizard's eyes.
But once he noticed the target Linas had locked onto with his spell, his expression changed.
"Linas! Don't aim at him himself! Deal with his puppet first!"
Not even bothering to finish the spell he was about to complete, the Half-Elf wizard shouted directly.
Yet Linas, enveloped in a powerful aura, merely gave him a cold glance before continuing to cast at his intended target.
"Frost Ray!"
Streams of icy blue energy flowed over Linas's arm, gathering into a white point between his fingers. Then, a blue-white beam as thick as an arm shot forth.
The instant the blue-white beam was fired, the temperature in the area plummeted. Centered on Linas, vast amounts of cold air spread outward, freezing swathes of turf beneath a thick layer of white frost.
Seeing the blue-white Frost Ray shooting straight toward the Black Robe Wizard, the Half-Elf wizard gritted his teeth and roared, "Nicole!"
Hearing the call, the sword-wielding figure battling the Flesh Monster erupted with white light. She wrenched herself free from the Flesh Monster's entanglement and lunged toward the Black Robe Wizard not far away.
The blue and white forces struck the black-robed figure almost simultaneously. The Black Robe Wizard was quickly swallowed by the intense light. Linas lowered his hand and staggered back several steps. Clearly, that burst of spellcasting had been no small burden even for a Level Five Apprentice, and he was now nearly drained.
"Linas, you're so handsome!"
The curvaceous witch beside him promptly caught him, took the initiative to offer him a fragrant kiss, and gazed at him with intoxicated admiration from her fairly pretty face.
Linas smiled weakly, his face pale. A hint of pride flashed between his brows. While enjoying the worship of his female companion, his eyes unconsciously drifted toward the Half-Elf wizard in the distance.
However, that joy did not linger long before a sharp crack rang out. The burly figure wielding the greatsword was sent stumbling back with a muffled groan by a powerful blow and became entangled by the Flesh Monster again. Meanwhile, the Black Robe Wizard, who had just been completely encased in frost, reappeared as chunks of ice shattered and fell away.
He still held his staff aloft. A translucent black barrier protected him, leaving him entirely unscathed.
A heavy sneer hung on the Black Robe Wizard's pale, sinister face. The ring of ground around his feet was perfectly clean, without a trace of frost.
"What?!"
At the sight, Linas, who had been proud and composed just a moment ago, went pale, his expression turning utterly grim.
His female companion was stunned as well. She instinctively released Linas and staggered backward with a pale face, fear once again spreading through her eyes.
"How could a Level Six Apprentice in black robes not have the appropriate defensive measures?"
The Half-Elf wizard seemed to have expected this. He muttered to himself, and when he noticed the eerie radiance blooming from the Black Robe Wizard's staff, deep helplessness and bitterness finally surfaced on his delicate face.
"This is over."
"Bzzz—"
The Black Robe Wizard held his staff high as a flash of ghostly green light rapidly blossomed from its tip and spread outward, enveloping every gray-robed wizard in an instant.
The gray-robed wizards caught within the green light immediately felt an intense weakness well up from within. Their limbs went limp, and they collapsed helplessly to the ground.
The burly figure who had been trading blows with the Flesh Monster was also viciously flung away the next second.
Looking at the gray-robed wizards collapsing one after another, the Black Robe Wizard sneered disdainfully. With a casual point of his staff, the Flesh Monster under his control roared and strode toward Linas.
Linas, the first to be targeted, turned deathly pale. He tried to force himself backward, but within the weakening field, he could barely even stand, much less escape.
As the terrifying Flesh Monster drew closer and closer, Linas panicked and desperately searched around for anything that could help him.
Then he suddenly spotted his witch companion right beside him. A vicious glint flashed in Linas's eyes, and he gathered his strength to savagely kick her in the shoulder.
Caught completely off guard, the curvaceous witch screamed as she rolled before the Flesh Monster. Then the Flesh Monster crushed her head beneath one foot, and her scream came to an abrupt end.
The Flesh Monster did not slow down, and Linas finally began trembling in terror.
The other gray-robed wizards on the field felt chilled and furious, but even more than that, they were desperate.
Once the Black Robe Wizard finished off Linas, they would be next.
"Conrad, my little darling, enjoy your lunch to your heart's content."
The Black Robe Wizard smiled and strolled leisurely across the field.
His eyes drifted back and forth over the two Half-Elves, as though he were calculating something in his heart. Light flickered constantly in his gaze.
"Crack—"
The Flesh Monster that had caught Linas brutally tore off one of his arms and stuffed it straight into its mouth, chewing loudly.
Linas's scream rang across the clearing, and despair spread further among the group.
But just then, "Whoosh—"
A violent whistling sound suddenly came from afar, rapidly drawing closer, accompanied by an incomparably intense fluctuation of energy particles.
The Black Robe Wizard, who had been thinking, instantly became alert and sharply turned toward the source of the sound and fluctuations.
The next second, his pupils contracted abruptly!
A blue-black Energy Light Sphere the size of a watermelon skimmed along the ground, howling toward them.
Wherever it passed, huge swathes of turf were torn up and shredded. Its wild, violent momentum was like a hurricane.
The Black Robe Wizard had no time to react and could only let out a hoarse roar: "Conrad!"
The Flesh Monster, which had been eating, tossed Linas aside and charged forward in several great strides, using its broad, massive body to firmly shield the Black Robe Wizard.
"BOOM!"
The blue-black sphere slammed into the Flesh Monster and exploded.
The latter did not even have time to make a sound before the violently surging energy stream blew it apart into a rain of bloody flesh and mangled corpse fragments.
