Treasure Pavilion!
Xu Haoyu and the other four quickened their pace and entered the Treasure Pavilion. The interior was immensely spacious, with rows upon rows of shelves standing throughout. All manner of treasures rested atop them, though every treasure was covered by a layer of restrictions.
Zhang Kaidi, Yu Huo, Jiang Miaomiao, and Lie Feng immediately scattered in different directions, beginning to select treasures that suited their preferences.
Xu Haoyu did not act rashly. He remembered from the original novel that every shelf had an energy barrier that could not be forcibly broken. To obtain a treasure, one could only wait for it to emerge from the energy barrier on its own.
Sure enough, Zhang Kaidi, Yu Huo, and the others could not break through the energy barriers at all. Just as they were feeling puzzled, streams of light suddenly shot out from the barriers.
Each streak of light contained a treasure—either a cultivation technique or Dou Technique scroll, or some other divine weapon or sharp artifact—and they darted back and forth through the air.
Seeing this, Zhang Kaidi, Yu Huo, Jiang Miaomiao, and Lie Feng seemed to understand. They immediately unleashed their movement Dou Techniques, constantly weaving and shifting as they pursued the streaks of light.
Xu Haoyu watched the four of them, but he did not join in. There were many treasures here, yet very few truly appealed to him.
Thus, Xu Haoyu did not wish to make a move lightly. He raised a hand and touched his brow, slowly releasing his soul perception to envelop the surroundings as he carefully sensed the aura contained within each streak of light.
Ordinary cultivation techniques, Dou Techniques, divine weapons, sharp artifacts, and high-grade pills could not catch his eye at all. Since he had entered the Treasure Pavilion, he would choose a true treasure.
Time passed bit by bit. By the time the other four had each selected several treasures, they were struggling over which one to take out with them.
After all, they could only take one. If they greedily tried to take two treasures, they would end up empty-handed, unable to take even one away.
Yet Xu Haoyu still had not made a move. He, too, was considering what exactly he wanted to take.
Suddenly, under his perception, an aura flashed through the air—one filled with an intense pressure, warmth and icy cold, light and darkness, the two sensations intertwined.
A divine gleam flashed through Xu Haoyu's eyes. He looked up, his gaze locking firmly onto a streak of light. With a low shout, he pushed off the ground and shot into the air.
Earth Treading Steps!
His body was like a cannonball, flashing into the sky in an instant. That streak of light was incredibly fast, trying to slip past him.
In the next moment, he stepped through the air. With a thunderous boom, his body shot after the streak of light.
Sky Stepping Steps!
The distance between them shrank rapidly. Soon, Xu Haoyu reached out and grabbed the streak of light, clenching it firmly in his hand. Even so, it continued to tremble violently, as though trying to break free from his grasp.
"Humph!"
With a cold snort, Xu Haoyu exerted his true strength. He possessed a Pure Yang Body, a physique as formidable as that of a magical beast. The moment he truly applied force, he crushed that layer of light to pieces.
Then he saw that hidden within the light was a black-and-white scroll. At the same time, the last remnants of light were caught by Xu Haoyu's soul perception. Within that light was the information regarding the black-and-white scroll.
Yin Yang Revolving Art!
An Earth Rank Middle Level cultivation technique, divided into the Yin Scroll and Yang Scroll. The Yin Scroll and Yang Scroll were each Earth Rank Low Level cultivation techniques. The Yin Scroll was suited for Dark Attribute Dou Qi cultivation, while the Yang Scroll was suited for Light Attribute Dou Qi cultivation.
Once two people possessing Dark Attribute and Light Attribute Dou Qi respectively cultivated the Yin Yang Rotation Art to completion, extreme yin would give rise to yang, and extreme yang would give rise to yin. Their Dou Qi could be transferred between them, allowing one person to possess both yin and yang Dou Qi. Not only would their combat strength multiply, but their methods would also become flexible and varied.
After learning the specific details of the Yin Yang Rotation Art, surprise flashed in Xu Haoyu's eyes. This was an extraordinarily remarkable cultivation technique. It involved two attributes and even allowed them to be passed back and forth.
It seemed to share a similar principle with the Mu Lan Three Elders' Three Beasts Savage Art of the Mu Lan Empire. However, Light and Dark Attribute Dou Qi were exceptionally rare attributes. Only by gathering two people with those respective attributes could the true power of the Yin Yang Rotation Art be brought out.
A smile curled across Xu Haoyu's lips. He happened to possess both Light and Dark Attributes. After cultivating the Yin Yang Rotation Art, my Guiyi True Art can at least rise to Earth Rank Middle Level. Now I won't have to worry about it holding back my cultivation speed.
He cultivated Dou Qi of multiple attributes, so he needed a high-level cultivation technique to improve his efficiency in absorbing energy and refining Dou Qi, thereby ensuring his cultivation speed.
Whoosh!
Xu Haoyu landed back on the ground, the Yin Yang Revolving Art in his hand, the smile on his face never fading.
Seeing the smile on Xu Haoyu's face, Zhang Kaidi, Yu Huo, Jiang Miaomiao, and Lie Feng could guess that he had surely acquired an incredible treasure.
Xu Haoyu had already been powerful enough to suppress them with ease. Now that he had obtained such an extraordinary treasure, he was undoubtedly like a tiger with wings. This placed tremendous pressure on them.
The four of them deliberated repeatedly before choosing the treasure from the Treasure Pavilion that suited them best, returning all the others.
Moreover, judging by the smiles on their faces, they too were clearly very satisfied with this trip to the Treasure Pavilion.
There was also little conversation among them. It seemed they all intended to treat their chosen treasures as trump cards and had no intention of revealing them easily.
Even Xu Haoyu did not intend to casually tell others that he had obtained an Earth Rank Middle Level cultivation technique, the Yin Yang Rotation Art.
Half an hour soon passed. The group of five quickly exited the Treasure Pavilion without lingering any longer.
Outside the Treasure Pavilion, Vice-Dean Hu Qian was already waiting for them. He once again bowed to the two guardians, Bai Lie and Qian Mu.
The expressions on Bai Lie and Qian Mu's placid faces remained unchanged. Forming seals with their hands, they withdrew the strange fluctuation, and the Space Lock that had opened a crack sealed itself once more.
Vice-Dean Hu Qian then turned to the five of them and said:
"Let's go. It's time to head back!"
As he spoke, a mysterious smile appeared on Hu Qian's face. He said to them in a cryptic tone:
"I suggest that after you return, you work hard to improve your strength. When we head to the Inner Courtyard, there will be a small test waiting for you. Although whether you perform well or poorly in the test will not affect your admission into the Inner Courtyard, it will have a certain effect on how you improve your strength there in the future. Go back and prepare yourselves properly."
Xu Haoyu and the other four all answered solemnly:
"Yes!"
In truth, Xu Haoyu knew that the test Hu Qian spoke of was the Fire Energy Hunting Competition. The senior students would treat the new students as prey. Through this opportunity, the senior students could earn some extra money, while the new students would come to understand that their strength amounted to nothing in the Inner Courtyard.
This world was cruel. On the Dou Qi Continent, the weak were prey to the strong, and strength was revered above all else. Not to mention that beyond the academy lay the chaotic Black-Corner Region.
There was nothing wrong with the academy being stricter in order to nurture true powerhouses. However, Xu Haoyu had no intention of letting others hunt him. He was fully capable of hunting others instead.
Who was the hunter? Who was the prey?
That remained to be seen!
