"Where's the underwear?" Li Yang asked confusedly from the doorway.
"On the balcony. I'll give you a chance to pick a style you like." Yu Hong looked at him with a fox-like seductive smile.
"Fine, then I'll just grab one." Li Yang shook his head, suddenly speechless. This woman was deliberately tempting him, but he couldn't fall for it so easily.
Li Yang was no naive rookie. His years of experience in society had made him quick-witted.
A woman like Yu Hong wasn't someone he could casually get involved with. If she caused him a whole mess of trouble later, that would be a real headache.
Li Yang sat bored on the sofa, waiting as Yu Hong focused on dressing herself up.
"All right, come give me a hairstyle." Yu Hong turned around with a radiant smile and called out to Li Yang.
"Coming." Li Yang replied, then got up and walked over to her. He picked up the hairdryer and comb and began working seriously.
This time, Li Yang gave Yu Hong a straight-haired look, slightly fluffing up the top. It gave her a completely different kind of charm.
"It's so beautiful." Yu Hong couldn't help raising her head to praise Li Yang.
"Here, take this. It's a holiday, so think of it as a red envelope." Yu Hong pulled a hundred-yuan bill from her wallet and handed it to Li Yang.
"Thanks, sis." Li Yang didn't stand on ceremony and accepted it directly.
"Let's go. I'll show you a good time tonight." The two of them went downstairs and headed to the underground parking lot.
Yu Hong took out her remote key and pressed it. A red Honda Civic beeped.
"Do you know how to drive?" Yu Hong asked, noticing the envy in Li Yang's eyes.
"When would I have had time to get a driver's license?" Li Yang shook his head awkwardly. "Fine, get in." At Yu Hong's command, they got into the car and set off.
Just like that, Li Yang followed Yu Hong out in a daze. First, they went out to eat, drink, and have fun with several of her close friends, then they ended up renting a private room to sing.
Li Yang was always a little reserved around unfamiliar people, especially when faced with a group of uninhibited young married women. He had even less in common with them.
Li Yang was now leaning against the private room's sofa, feeling lightheaded.
After a while, Li Yang really couldn't stand staying any longer. He got up and quietly opened the door to leave.
He had only walked a short distance down the dim corridor when a fragrant breeze suddenly drifted toward him, and his vision immediately went dark.
"What are you doing here?" Hui Hui's soft body had already thrown itself into Li Yang's arms.
She nearly knocked him over. Li Yang hurriedly caught Hui Hui around the waist and barely managed to keep his footing.
"Get down, silly girl!" Li Yang cried out as he looked at Hui Hui leaning against him.
"Did you miss me?" Hui Hui seemed to have been drinking. Li Yang could smell the warm breath she exhaled as she spoke.
"I missed you. I missed you so much. All right, get down already. If your coworkers see you, they'll make fun of you."
Li Yang lightly patted Hui Hui and spoke gently.
"How did you know I came with my coworkers?" Hui Hui widened her eyes at Li Yang, her gaze full of tenderness.
"I'm the tapeworm in your stomach." Li Yang wanted to tease her.
"That's disgusting!" Hui Hui replied with a laugh, completely abandoning any ladylike image.
"All right, I can't win against you. Come back with me. I was just about to head home." Li Yang held her against the corner of the wall so they wouldn't stand out as much.
"Let's go. I was planning to sneak out too. It was boring. Tell me, are we connected by heart? You came with coworkers too, right?" Hui Hui asked Li Yang in return.
"Yeah, let's go." Li Yang told a lie, then the two of them held hands and ran off like thieves.
When they reached the bustling street, it was nearly ten o'clock. Li Yang hailed a taxi by the roadside, and they both sat in the back.
"Where are you two headed?" the driver asked without turning around.
"Sir, take us to the internet cafe across from 150," Hui Hui answered before Li Yang could speak.
"Sure." The driver skillfully shifted gears and set off.
Hui Hui stopped talking and lay on Li Yang's lap, falling asleep...
After entering the internet cafe, they got two computers. Hui Hui didn't care what Li Yang was playing. She opened a media player, picked a Taiwanese idol drama, put on her headphones, and watched it with fascination.
"What a lovesick fool." Li Yang rolled his eyes at her, only to receive Hui Hui's Nine Yin White Bone Claw in return. She left five deep nail marks on the back of his hand.
Li Yang didn't hold back and teased Hui Hui in return. The two of them played around for a while before finally settling down.
Just then, Li Yang's QQ started flashing. It was Li Meijiao, who was far away in Shanghai, wanting to chat with him.
"Are you there, Li Yang?" Li Meijiao typed.
"I'm here. You're not asleep yet?"
"Why would I sleep? It's the May Day holiday, idiot."
"Oh, I forgot. How are things over there?"
"Pretty good. Did you miss me?"
"Of course I did."
"Hmph, I don't believe you. You must be with some other beauty."
"No, I'm not. You're wronging me."
"Then turn on the video so I can see."
"Who's afraid?"
So Li Yang accepted the video call request Li Meijiao sent. Once connected, Li Meijiao sat in front of her computer in pajamas. The little pink bed behind her looked especially cozy.
"You're so beautiful, Jiao Jiao." Li Yang couldn't help praising her.
"Oh, you. But I've barely seen you call me. You must have forgotten me ages ago." Li Meijiao smiled and waved her little fist at Li Yang, puckering her lips in an adorable way.
Hui Hui was completely absorbed in her show and paid no attention at all to Li Yang chatting with a beautiful woman.
It wasn't convenient for Li Yang to talk, so he typed a lot of cheesy sweet talk to Li Meijiao.
Before long, Li Meijiao was blushing furiously as she started teasing Li Yang.
"You bad guy, you're so annoying. I'm going to sleep. I'm not talking to you anymore." The two of them flirted sweetly for quite a while before hanging up the video call.
Li Meijiao told him that when she came back for the New Year, she wanted to spend some quality time with Li Yang. She missed him too.
After that, Li Yang felt there was nothing else to do, so he logged off his computer. He stood up, wrapped his arms around Hui Hui, and started watching the idol drama with her.
They watched until nearly midnight before Li Yang remembered he still had work the next day. Ignoring Hui Hui's reluctance, he pulled her outside and headed home.
"You're so annoying. I was getting to the good part." Hui Hui complained, pouting unwillingly.
Li Yang thought of something and whispered a few words into her ear. It immediately made Hui Hui beam with joy, and the two quickly walked along hand in hand.
Halfway there, Hui Hui started acting spoiled and insisted that Li Yang carry her on his back. So they took a small road back to their village, Xu JiaYing.
When they reached the Village Entrance, they ran into a drunkard. Hui Hui was so frightened that she immediately jumped down from Li Yang's back.
"It's fine. Don't be afraid." Li Yang took Hui Hui's hand and comforted her.
"Who's wandering around in the middle of the night instead of sleeping?" the drunkard shouted.
"Wang GouDan, what the hell are you yelling for?" Li Yang recognized him at once. Back when Li Yang used to run around outside a few years ago, he had beaten him up plenty of times in the village.
"Oh, it's Yang-ge. Sorry, I didn't see it was you." Wang GouDan said with a servile grin.
"Get the hell out of here. Keep wandering around like an idiot, and I'll break your damn legs." Li Yang viciously scared off Wang GouDan, the village punk.
As they passed the little shop, Li Yang pulled Hui Hui to its entrance. "Wait for me. I'm going inside to buy something to eat."
Then Li Yang pulled open the glass door and went in.
"You're still awake this late?" the Boss Lady greeted him with a smile as she stood up.
"I just got back. Give me a bag of Golden Dove Melon Seeds, a bottle of beer, a bottle of Nutrition Express, and two Shuanghui Sausages." Li Yang listed his order, and the Boss Lady quickly packed everything into a bag.
"How much?" "Twenty yuan." The Boss Lady quickly calculated the bill, and Li Yang paid before leaving.
The two returned to Li Yang's front door. "Come on, don't go back tonight." Li Yang pulled Hui Hui inside with a naughty grin.
Old Dad and Old Mom had long since gone to sleep. Hui Hui followed Li Yang back to his room as though she knew the way by heart.
"I'll get you some water to soak your feet." Li Yang put down the bag and his phone, then turned and walked out.
Hui Hui took off her shoes and socks, climbed barefoot onto the bed, and sat there. She grabbed some melon seeds from the bag and started cracking them while using the remote to change the channels on the TV.
"Water's here!" Li Yang carried in a full basin of warm water and set it in front of Hui Hui.
"Hurry up and see how it feels." Li Yang urged Hui Hui as he watched her.
"Not bad." Hui Hui dipped her little feet in to test it, then began watching a late-night drama.
Li Yang sat down opposite her, took off his shoes, and put his feet in as well. The two soaked their feet together.
"So comfortable." Li Yang couldn't help sighing.
Then he peeled open a sausage and started eating it. He had drunk quite a lot with Yu Hong that night and hadn't eaten enough.
"I want some too." Hui Hui opened her little mouth and acted cute.
Li Yang fed her a bite, then ate the rest himself and grabbed some more melon seeds to crack.
After they finished a bottle of beer, they cleaned up and climbed into bed together.
The weather in May was just right, but sharing one blanket still felt a little too warm.
"Take your clothes off. I'm dying of heat." Li Yang looked at Hui Hui sleeping in her underwear and couldn't help persuading her.
"You do it for me. I'm too lazy to move." Hui Hui turned over, presenting her back to Li Yang.
Before long...
Another passionate night...
Early the next morning, Li Yang quietly got dressed and got up. Hui Hui was still sleeping soundly under the covers.
Li Yang couldn't bear to wake her. After washing up, he went to the kitchen, took two boiled eggs, placed them on the bedside table, and quietly left for work.
Not long after, Xu Rui came over too, and the two rode their bicycles to the bus station together.
"What's that on your neck?" After parking his bike, Xu Rui saw Li Yang bend down to lock it and casually asked.
Li Yang touched it and replied with a smile, "There must've been fleas in the room last night. They bit me so badly I couldn't sleep." He casually brushed it off and pulled his collar up higher before the two walked to the bus stop together.
After arriving at the shop, everything went as usual as they began another busy day.
Hui Hui slept until ten-thirty before finally opening her eyes groggily. Last night's sweet intimacy had left both her body and mind deeply satisfied, so she had slept especially soundly.
Looking at the boiled eggs Li Yang had left for her, Hui Hui smiled unconsciously. This guy was actually quite thoughtful. If not for Old Dad's character, Hui Hui really would have wanted to spend her entire life with Li Yang.
With her hair a mess, Hui Hui lay by the bed and finished the two eggs. Then she opened the Nutrition Express Li Yang had bought her the previous night, took a few drinks, and finally sat up with satisfaction to get dressed.
"So annoying." Hui Hui sat in Li Yang's room, looking in the mirror at the hickeys he had left on her. Her little lips were practically pouting to the sky as she cursed Li Yang over and over in her heart, then carefully slipped out of Li Yang's house and headed home.
Li Yang had coaxed her into staying over the night before, so Hui Hui had no choice but to use her best friend Zhang Qianqian as an excuse and lie to her family that she had stayed at her place.
I need to get in touch with Zhang Qianqian quickly, or I might slip up later.
Meanwhile, Hui Hui's father, Zhang Deqing, strolled out of the house.
He happened to run into Zhang Qianqian, who was riding her little motorcycle home in a hurry after spending a romantic night with her boyfriend.
"Qian Qian, wasn't Xiao Hui at your house last night? Why weren't you two together?" Zhang Deqing asked Qian Qian with a baffled expression.
"Oh, Uncle, Hui Hui isn't up yet. We stayed up too late watching dramas last night." Qian Qian reacted quickly and casually made up a lie, fooling Zhang Deqing.
"Oh, then tell her to come back early. Her mother needs her for something. Pass the message along to her."
After saying that, Zhang Deqing walked toward Widow Wang's house without looking back. He was the leader of the village's third group, and Widow Wang had recently asked him to help her apply for low-income household assistance. Zhang Deqing had put in quite a bit of effort.
Thinking about the way Widow Wang looked at him, Zhang Deqing immediately quickened his pace and headed toward her door.
Zhang Qianqian agreed. Once Zhang Deqing entered Widow Wang's house, she quickly took out her phone and called Hui Hui to warn her.
"Hello, Hui Hui, your dad just ran into me. I answered him the way you told me before."
Hui Hui said anxiously, "Oh, I know. Let's not talk now, I'm busy."
Zhang Qianqian found the sounds coming from the other end of the phone a little strange, so she said with a giggle, "Hey, what are you busy with so early in the morning? Don't tell me you're cleaning up last night's 'battlefield'?"
Hui Hui's face instantly turned red. She said coyly, "What nonsense are you talking about? I'm hanging up!"
After hanging up, Hui Hui patted her burning cheeks and thought that it was lucky Zhang Qianqian hadn't noticed anything strange. She decided to explain what had happened last night to her properly when she got home.
Zhang Deqing arrived at Widow Wang's house. "Guifen, I brought you good news."
As soon as he entered, Zhang Deqing shouted toward the Main Room.
"You old bastard, Old Zhang. Why are you yelling at my house so early in the morning? What good news? If you've got something to say, spit it out. Old Mother doesn't have time to listen to your nonsense."
"Guifen, it really is good news. I got you a spot for the low-income household assistance you wanted. There are only two spots in our village, and I saved one for you. Hurry and make me something to eat."
Zhang Deqing pretended to be drenched in sweat as he looked at Widow Wang and added that last line.
"Oh my god, you old bastard, you really gave me a huge surprise. Get inside, I'll make you something to eat."
Before long, Zhang Deqing sat in Widow Wang's living room, wolfing down the drinking snacks she had prepared for him: a plate of Cold Beef Salad, Pig Ears, Peanuts, and dressed cucumbers. Early in the morning, Zhang Deqing leisurely began drinking.
"I'm telling you, old bastard, if you'd come any later, I would've given this good stuff to someone else. I was about to go see the Village Chief. At least you've got a conscience and still keep Old Mother in your heart. Remember to come over on time tonight, old bastard..."
Widow Wang copied the manner of an actress from a TV drama and gave Zhang Deqing a charming, seductive smile.
