A Wonderful Day

After hearing Xiaodan's words, Li Yang rode home first. Old Mom was cooking in the kitchen, and she was overjoyed to see her son return.

"Why didn't you bring Xiaodan back?" Ever since Xiaodan had attended her older brother's wedding, Old Mom had unconsciously treated her like her own daughter-in-law, so she asked Li Yang.

"She went to Yiyang to provide support. I'll pick her up later, and we'll have dinner at home tonight."

Li Yang smiled as he walked into the kitchen. A wave of heat hit him head-on, making him want to rush right back out. Cooking in summer really was hard work.

"Then go buy some cold dishes from the roadside. You should've told me earlier, or I would've made more food."

Looking at the simple stir-fried shredded potatoes, Old Mom felt the meal was a little plain and wanted Li Yang to get a few more dishes for Xiaodan.

"It's fine, Mom. We can buy some from the roadside when we get back," Li Yang said as he retreated into the courtyard to enjoy the cool breeze.

Just then, the phone rang, and Li Yang hurriedly answered it.

"Hubby, come on over. I'm almost at the station," Yue Xiaodan's sweet voice came through the phone.

"Okay, wifey. I'll be right there." Li Yang said goodbye to Old Mom and rushed out at top speed.

At the bus stop on Heluo Road, Li Yang was like an ant on a hot pan, constantly looking back and forth at the traffic coming from the west. Before long, the minibus finally arrived.

Like a cheerful little bird, Yue Xiaodan hurried down from the bus. Ignoring the stares of passersby, she threw herself straight into Li Yang's arms and refused to let go for a long while.

Neither of them spoke. Their eyes met, filled with deep love for each other.

"Hubby," Xiaodan finally called softly.

"Come on, let's hurry home." Not wanting to waste any time, Li Yang took her light luggage and headed off.

"Oh, right, my mom said to buy some food. We're eating at home." Li Yang took Xiaodan to a deli, bought some cold dishes and Pig Ears that Xiaodan liked, then headed home.

Once they got home, Xiaodan warmly greeted Li Yang's mother, acting as though she were already a married-in daughter-in-law.

Since the young couple had not seen each other for many days, both eager for the same thing, they quickly finished dinner and went hand in hand into Li Yang's room.

The moment they entered, Li Yang impatiently pulled Xiaodan into his arms. He gently kicked the door shut. "I missed you so much, wifey!" Li Yang said excitedly, then kissed her forcefully without hesitation...

As time passed, they forgot everything else...

After resting for a while, Xiaodan lay in Li Yang's arms and looked up at him. They exchanged a smile.

"Hubby, I want to take a shower. I sweated so much!" Clean-loving Xiaodan pouted as she complained.

"I'll go see if anyone's home." Feeling sorry for Xiaodan, Li Yang got out of bed, poked his head out, and called toward the door several times. No one answered.

"Come on, wifey. Let's go take a shower." Li Yang's awkward expression made Xiaodan burst out laughing.

"Come carry me, hubby," Xiaodan complained to Li Yang.

Only then did Li Yang notice Xiaodan's condition.

"Hehe, sorry, wifey. I was too impatient just now..."

After the shower, Li Yang carried her back to the room, took out the hair dryer, and dried Xiaodan's hair.

"Hubby, are we staying at home tonight?" Xiaodan sat cross-legged against the headboard while Li Yang styled her hair. Xiaodan's hair had grown quite long, making her look even more beautiful and alluring than when she had short hair.

"Wherever you want to stay," Li Yang replied casually, still focused on styling Xiaodan's hair.

"Then let's go back to the city. I don't think it's convenient for us to be affectionate here at home." Yue Xiaodan had been apart from Li Yang for nearly a week. Having finally made it through to their reunion, she naturally wanted to spend more time being close to him. Her love for Li Yang had become so obsessive that she could no longer pull herself away.

After discussing it, they got dressed. Without telling Old Mom, Li Yang directly rode his bike with Xiaodan to the bus station.

After arriving, Xiaodan pulled Li Yang out shopping. They walked around for a while, and Li Yang bought her some summer underwear and stockings so she would have clothes to change into.

At nine o'clock, they returned to their place. Xiaodan insisted on dragging Li Yang off to take a shower.

"Hubby, Aunt Flow came," Xiaodan said obediently with a silly smile.

"It's okay, wifey. I'll clean you up." Fortunately, there was water in the room. Li Yang thoughtfully used a towel to clean Xiaodan, then took out a Sanitary Napkin and handed it to her...

After tidying up, the two of them both broke into silly smiles.

The timing really couldn't have been worse. Li Yang held his wife in his arms and complained unhappily.

"You silly thing, wasn't twice last night enough?" Xiaodan's charming face flushed slightly.

"Of course not!" Li Yang protested.

"Alright, honey. We've been so busy being affectionate that I almost forgot to tell you something important." Xiaodan stroked Li Yang as she replied.

"What is it? Go ahead, honey, I'm listening." Li Yang was seriously massaging her as he spoke casually.

A few days ago, the shop manager told me to go to Yiyang and train as an Assistant Shop Manager for a month. After that, I'll come back and officially take up the position.

The work will be much easier in the future, and I'll get a raise too. I want to save more money for you, so you can go to my family and propose sooner. What do you think, honey?

After hearing that, Li Yang didn't answer. He leaned down and kissed Xiaodan on the lips again before finally speaking.

The two clung to each other for a while longer before Li Yang finally hurried off to work under Xiaodan's urging.

"When you come back at noon, I'll make you something delicious. Remember that, honey?" Then Yue Xiaodan took the initiative to give Li Yang a fragrant kiss to comfort him.

Feeling the underwear against her skin, Xiaodan found it truly comfortable—cool and breathable. Li Yang really did dote on her the most. Wearing the underwear Li Yang had bought her as she walked down the street, Yue Xiaodan felt a wave of happiness. She felt as though she could no longer go even one day without Li Yang.

Dragon Boat Festival was only a couple of days away. Thinking that she wouldn't be able to spend it with Li Yang, Xiaodan went to the market and bought plenty of meat and vegetables in advance. On the way home, she also picked up several handmade rice dumplings. Neither she nor Li Yang particularly liked them, so they would just have them alongside their meal.

Although Aunt Flow had come, Xiaodan wasn't irritable in the slightest. It seemed love really was the most healing thing for women.

She casually touched the smooth, elastic skin on her face. That, too, was thanks to Li Yang.

After returning home, Xiaodan changed into slippers, put on an apron, and began busily working away with delight. Imagining Li Yang's happy expression when he came home immediately filled Xiaodan with energy.

When Li Yang got home at noon, he saw that Xiaodan had already prepared four dishes for him. Two meat dishes and two vegetable dishes—all of them his favorites. In the middle of the table was a plate holding four cooked rice dumplings, already peeled and sprinkled with white sugar. The white glutinous rice and red beans blended together perfectly.

"Honey, dinner's ready!"

He had really exhausted himself last night trying to make Xiaodan happy.

After taking only a few bites, Xiaodan ran off. No matter how Li Yang tried to feed her, she playfully dodged away and refused to eat another bite. She boiled water to make tea for Li Yang, mixed herself a cup of brown sugar water, turned on the television, and comfortably lay there watching it.
