Background and History

Foundation and early standing

Shrek Academy was founded ten thousand years ago by the Golden Iron Triangle and the first generation of the Shrek Seven Devils. Ten ten-meter granite statues commemorating those founders stand on the academy grounds. 15

The academy controls Shrek City, a settlement of more than two million residents and a major cross-border commercial center. Its location between major powers, its armed strength, and its independent economy make it functionally comparable to a small nation rather than a conventional academy. 14 372 445

During the holy war between the Sun Moon Continent and Douluo Continent, three thousand Shrek Army members held back the Sun Moon Empire’s larger force for fifteen days, buying the Douluo nations time to mobilize and contributing to their eventual victory. 14

Education and reputation

Shrek Academy built its reputation by selecting and training exceptional Soul Masters from across the continent. The Outer Court uses harsh promotion examinations and expels students who fail; Inner Court students instead undertake annual assessment tasks and may repeat a year if they fail them. 18 119

The academy emphasizes combat capability over theoretical instruction. Senior Inner Court students were formerly required to complete Monitoring Group missions—three during the eighth year and thirty before graduation—as part of their training into “true powerhouses.” 215

Shrek Academy repeatedly dominates the All-Continent Advanced Soul Master Academy Soul Battle Competition. Its team won the documented tournament after overwhelming or forcing concessions from multiple opponents, then defeated the Sun Moon Royal Soul Tool Master Academy in the final. 183 207 209

Adaptation to Soul Tools

After the tournament, Mu En warned that the Sun Moon Empire’s rapid Soul Tool development threatened both Shrek Academy and the Douluo Three Kingdoms. He criticized Yan Shaozhe’s resistance to incorporating Soul Tools into the academy’s teachings. 210

Shrek Academy subsequently established an exchange program with the Sun Moon Royal Soul Tool Master Academy. Each institution sent ten students; Shrek opened its Inner Court to the Sun Moon exchange students, while the Sun Moon academy opened Mingde Hall to Shrek’s students. 213

Chen Feng’s succession and expansion

Following Mu En’s death, Chen Feng became Sea God Pavilion Master. He used the Golden Tree’s power within Shrek City to demonstrate Limit Douluo-level combat strength, securing the confidence of Shrek Academy’s senior members. 359

Under Chen Feng, Shrek Academy defeated the Body Sect’s assault on Sea God Island, later invaded the Body Sect, destroyed it, seized its resources, and absorbed surviving disciples who accepted Shrek allegiance. 362 396 397 398

Chen Feng’s administration rebuilt the damaged Outer Court, upgraded the Shrek Army’s Soul Tool equipment, expanded Body Martial Soul training using captured Body Sect texts, and strengthened the academy’s influence throughout the Heaven Dou Empire. 365 413

He also abolished the thirty-mission graduation requirement for Inner Court students. Low- and mid-level monitoring work was to be performed by the Douluo Three Kingdoms under Shrek Academy’s supervision, while the academy retained oversight authority. 369 372

Branch academy era

Chen Feng announced plans to establish Shrek Academy branch campuses across the continent. Although the emperors of the Douluo Three Kingdoms feared the political consequences, the proposal was accepted after Chen Feng’s display of strength. 444 445 446

The branch campuses were staffed with Titled Douluo or groups of Soul Douluo-level experts. They became a recruitment path for students who passed branch examinations before entering the main academy. 450 486

Many Shrek graduates hold official posts throughout the Douluo Three Kingdoms. These alumni form the Shrek Academy Faction, a political network supported by Chen Feng to protect its members’ interests and expand the academy’s influence. 385
