Background and History

Journey to the West counterpart

Ye Qiu presents Sun Wukong as the central figure of a Journey to the West history book and identifies him as Huaxia’s Victorious Fighting Buddha. A three-minute summoning card later brings forth a Seven Star Dou Sheng clone from that world 6 50.

When Ye Qiu calls for the Great Sage during a dispute over the Green Lotus Core Flame, the clone descends on Green Mountain City. He kills Vulture Protector and a Gu Clan Dou Zun expert, then declares himself Sun Wukong of Water Curtain Cave on Flower Fruit Mountain before the summoning expires. His appearance spreads the Great Sage’s name across the Dou Qi Continent 102 103 105.

King of Demon Kings

The Sun Wukong from Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons spent five hundred years beneath Five Finger Mountain. He enters Huaxia Mall after Fairy Zixia learns that Sun Wukong is the person fated to draw her Purple Azure Treasure Sword. Both he and Supreme Treasure draw it, complicating Zixia’s marriage oath 308 309.

He defeats the Bull Demon King in a fight inside the mall. Mall guards then move to arrest both combatants for breaking its rules. After he repels nine Dou Saint guards, Qinghua Great Emperor subdues him; Ye Qiu subsequently orders his release once he pays for the Blood Sea Hong Lian he destroyed 310 311 312.

Later, he fights Sea God Tang San on Douluo Continent and joins Supreme Treasure against Asura God. Wu Tian then hires him for a campaign in Journey to the West: The Aftermath, where he attacks Wu Tian’s protector Black Robe and confronts that world’s Victorious Fighting Buddha 456 460 461 466 469.

Victorious Fighting Buddha of The Aftermath

This counterpart opposes Wu Tian’s rule and attempts to rescue Tathagata’s Reincarnated Spirit Child at Vulture Peak. Wu Tian returns with Sun Wukongs from other worlds, who fight him despite sharing his name. He absorbs six Sharira to withstand them but is eventually captured. Wu Tian spares him so he can witness the Spirit Child’s destruction 468 469 470 474 478 479.

The counterparts have visibly different forms 103 308 469.

• Journey to the West clone — Golden fur, a pointed mouth and imposing eyes; wears a Phoenix-Winged Purple Gold Crown, Chainmail Golden Armor and Lotus Silk Cloud-Stepping Shoes 103.
• King of Demon Kings — An ugly, opera-performer-like monkey about one meter tall, with two flags behind his back and a pronounced baleful aura 308 310.
• Victorious Fighting Buddha of The Aftermath — Wears a small golden tiger-skin outfit and carries a Golden Cudgel 469.

• The Journey to the West clone’s listed techniques include the 72 Earthly Transformations, Law Manifestation of Heaven and Earth, Three Heads Six Arms and Somersault Cloud 50.
• The King of Demon Kings uses the Seventy-Two Transformations and Somersault Cloud to turn an even fight with Tang San into a one-sided attack 456.
• The Aftermath counterpart uses the 72 Earthly Transformations to assume a Titan Giant Ape form 475.

Golden Cudgel and combat

• The Journey to the West clone can shrink a cudgel described as half as thick as Green Mountain City until it fits in his hand 103.
• The King of Demon Kings defeats the Bull Demon King with his cudgel and later smashes through Tang San’s chest armor 310 456.

• The Aftermath counterpart absorbs six Sharira to raise his power from Myriad Realms Rank Six late stage to Rank Seven early stage. The increase makes the King of Demon Kings and Supreme Treasure reconsider fighting him directly 474.

• Supreme Treasure — A Sun Wukong reincarnation from A Chinese Odyssey. The King of Demon Kings offers to make him his little brother, but Supreme Treasure declines; they later fight alongside one another 310 311 461.
• Fairy Zixia — Her sword identifies Sun Wukong as her fated person, but both the King of Demon Kings and Supreme Treasure can draw it 308 309.
• Bull Demon King — Sworn brother of Sun Wukong in the A Chinese Odyssey world; he mistakes the King of Demon Kings for an impostor and fights him in Huaxia Mall 282 310.

• A Huaxia Mall announcement explicitly calls Supreme Treasure Sun Wukong’s reincarnation, prompting the King of Demon Kings to ask how a reincarnation could exist while he was still alive 310.
• The three names “King of Demon Kings,” “Supreme Treasure” and “Sun Wukong” all answer when Wu Tian asks for Wukong through a Myriad Realms Phone 462.
• The King of Demon Kings rejects the title Victorious Fighting Buddha because, to him, it means serving the Buddhist Realm rather than living freely as the Great Sage Equal to Heaven 469 479.
