Crimson Wind Eagle

Lin Lan traced out a Star Orbit, and his consciousness immediately entered the Summoning Plane.

In a forest somewhere unknown within the Summoning Plane, Lin Lan wandered aimlessly.

"This place is really huge~ There are quite a few demons too." Along the way, Lin Lan had seen Sky Eagles, white-headed Strange Apes, mayflies, and plenty of bizarre creatures, but none had satisfied him. Ahead lay a gloomy swamp, surrounded by rotting corpses and bones scattered across the ground.

"This swamp seems a little off." Lin Lan muttered.

"Squeak, squeak."

Not far away, a Lingxi Bird flew beneath the shade of a tree. Its sharp eagle eyes stared fixedly into the swamp as it let out squeaking cries, almost as if it were provoking something.

Suddenly, a Swamp Poison Centipede crawled out of the swamp and pounced fiercely at the Lingxi Bird.

"I'd better leave. I'm not that interested in watching demons fight, though that centipede sure has a lot of legs." Lin Lan hurried away from the trouble. Though he did want to watch the demons fight, he did not have much time. If he failed to find something satisfactory this time, he could only try again next time.

"Awoo~"

After leaving the forest, he arrived at a valley. At the bottom of the valley, a Ghost Wolf Beast was howling.

"Maybe a Ghost Wolf Beast would work too. It could serve as a mount." Lin Lan felt that Ghost Wolf Beasts were actually quite strong, though their bloodline was not particularly impressive among demons. The advantage of wolf-type creatures was that they were easy to raise and grew quickly.

"Shriek!"

At the top of the valley ahead, an eagle let out a piercing cry.

"Whoa~ This one looks cool~ It's him." Having chosen his target, Lin Lan circled around from the other side of the valley, intending to approach the eagle from behind. The closer he got, the clearer he could see it.

The eagle had a white head and sharp, deep eyes that seemed capable of seeing through everything. Its feathers were a glossy crimson red, and its posture was proud and upright. The more Lin Lan looked at it, the more he liked it.

"Big Eagle, want to follow me to another plane and have some fun? I'll help you level up. Reaching the Commander level won't be a problem." Lin Lan spoke to the unnamed eagle.

"Shriek~" The Crimson Wind Eagle cried out, its sharp eyes watching Lin Lan. Lin Lan had no idea what it was trying to say, but he was a little excited. At least it had responded.

"Are you agreeing or not? I can't understand bird language either. How about this? Don't move. I'll give you something good." Lin Lan slowly approached and placed his hand on the Crimson Wind Eagle. It did not resist, and a summoning mark immediately appeared above its head.

"Not bad, not bad. Big Eagle, you're a good judge of character. Follow me, and I'll help you conquer this sky in the Summoning Plane." Lin Lan declared confidently to the Crimson Wind Eagle. The eagle gently nudged Lin Lan with its head and let him stroke it.

"Alright, alright, I need to head back. Don't go fighting, okay~" With that, Lin Lan patted the Crimson Wind Eagle and left the Summoning Plane under its gaze.

Lin Lan's consciousness returned to his body, and he immediately prepared to tell Tang Yue the good news.

"Teacher Tang Yue, I summoned a big eagle. Could you help me see what species it is?" Lin Lan said as he knocked on Tang Yue's door.

When the door opened, Teacher Tang Yue stood there in her pajamas, her eyes still hazy with sleep.

"Why aren't you asleep in the middle of the night?" Tang Yue asked, with a hint of reproach in her eyes.

"Teacher Tang Yue, I just summoned a Summoned Beast, so I wanted you to help me take a look." Lin Lan said somewhat sheepishly.

"Alright. Wait a moment while I change, then I'll go out with you." Tang Yue went inside to change and shut the door behind her.

"Teacher Tang Yue really treats me like an outsider. I'm a proper gentleman—I wouldn't look even if she left the door open." Lin Lan muttered gloomily. "Though honestly, Teacher Tang Yue's figure can't be hidden even by pajamas."

After five minutes, Teacher Tang Yue came out, and the two of them headed outside together.

"Dimensional Summon." Lin Lan traced out the Star Orbit of the Summoning Element. As the Summoning Plane opened, an eagle flew out and soared through the dark sky.

"Come down, come down. I didn't call you out to fight." Lin Lan hurriedly called the Crimson Wind Eagle over.

Hearing its master's call, the Crimson Wind Eagle quickly descended from the sky and landed before them.

"This is a Crimson Wind Eagle. It can manipulate the wind element and flies at great speed. Even among servant-class demons, it is a powerful existence. I didn't expect you to summon an eagle-type Summoned Beast. Even the Sky Eagles used by ordinary Military Mages aren't as strong as it." Tang Yue examined the Crimson Wind Eagle and praised it.

"Crimson Wind Eagle? I think Big Eagle sounds better. From now on, you'll be called Big Eagle~ If you agree, cry out once." Lin Lan said as he stroked the Crimson Wind Eagle.

"Shriek~" The Crimson Wind Eagle cried in response.

"Not bad, not bad. You're very obedient. If you get injured, I'll use magic energy to heal you. Once I reach the intermediate level, I'll even raise you to Warrior level." Lin Lan gazed at the Crimson Wind Eagle fondly and spoke with satisfaction.

"Alright, go back. I'll call you out to fight next time." As Lin Lan finished speaking, the Crimson Wind Eagle returned to the Summoning Plane through the passage.

"Haha~ Teacher Tang Yue, the eagle I summoned for the first time is pretty good, right?" Lin Lan said with a laugh.

"Your spiritual power is strong, so it's normal for the Summoned Beast you call forth to be stronger than those of ordinary people," Tang Yue said.

"Alright, Teacher Tang Yue. Thank you for clearing up your student's confusion." After Lin Lan spoke, Tang Yue returned to rest, while Lin Lan made a phone call to prepare for taking the Crimson Wind Eagle out into the wild tomorrow for a proper feast.

"Hello! Mo Fan, want to go hunt demons tomorrow? I summoned a Summoned Beast—I can bring it out to help you," Lin Lan said to Mo Fan.

"Sure~ I'm dueling Yu Ang the day after tomorrow anyway. I can use some demons to practice first." Mo Fan agreed without hesitation.

"Mo Fan, my Summoned Beast is cool, right?" Lin Lan asked Mo Fan.

"So cool! We don't even have to walk to the wilderness anymore. Once I reach the intermediate level, I want to awaken a Summoning Element too." Mo Fan was deeply envious. The two of them were currently riding the Crimson Wind Eagle toward the wilderness outside Bocheng.

"Big Eagle, if you spot any demons on the ground, dive straight down. I'll give them a round of electric therapy." Lin Lan said to the Crimson Wind Eagle.

"Shriek~" The Crimson Wind Eagle flew at incredible speed and reached the wilderness in the blink of an eye. It then slowed down, its sharp, alert eyes constantly scanning the ground.

"Shriek~" The Crimson Wind Eagle cried out and dove toward the ground. Two One-Eyed Demon Wolves had been going at it enthusiastically when the eagle's cry from overhead suddenly frightened them apart. They immediately readied themselves to bite the Crimson Wind Eagle.

"Sky Flash~ Lightning Seal~ Raging Strike." Before the two One-Eyed Demon Wolves could make a move, they were instantly killed by the Lightning Seal. The Lightning Seal descended from the sky, leaving the One-Eyed Demon Wolves no chance to dodge.

"Impressive~ Lanzi, you've become so skilled at using beginner magic." Mo Fan had just been about to attack when the two One-Eyed Demon Wolves had already dropped dead. Their remnant souls flew out and were absorbed by Lin Lan's Soul Vessel.

"Big Eagle, next one." Hearing its master's command, the Crimson Wind Eagle flew into the sky again and began searching for its next target.

"Wait—down there, that's a Three-Eyed Demon Wolf. Big Eagle, dive down. I'm going to hit it with something big." Lin Lan spotted the massive white figure in the forest below and immediately had the Crimson Wind Eagle descend.

"Shriek—" Upon hearing Lin Lan's command, the Crimson Wind Eagle showed no fear even against a Warrior Rank demon and dove straight down.

"Awoo, awroo—" The Three-Eyed Demon Wolf also noticed the Crimson Wind Eagle and let out excited howls. After all, it was the local tyrant of this area. Any demon foolish enough to provoke it would simply be swatted to death.

"Sky Flash—Thunderbolt—Falling Thunder." As they neared the Three-Eyed Demon Wolf, Lin Lan immediately cast Intermediate Level Magic. Thunderclouds gathered above the demon wolf's head, and the next second, countless violent bolts of lightning crashed down upon it with an aura of destruction.

"Boom—"

The Three-Eyed Demon Wolf's skull was pierced straight through by lightning, and it collapsed to the ground.

"Lanzi, are you from another planet or something? You one-shot a Warrior Rank demon!" Mo Fan stared in utter shock.

"Just basic stuff." Lin Lan acted as though it were nothing. Mo Fan had never seen the intense scene of him fighting three Intermediate Mages at once.

"Loot dropped!" Golden fluorescence rose from the Three-Eyed Demon Wolf's body and flew toward them. Mo Fan's Little Mudfish became incredibly excited, swaying nonstop.

"Little Mudfish, listen up—this one isn't for you. You can eat whatever comes later, but if you absorb this one, I'll toss you into a cesspit." Lin Lan sternly warned Little Mudfish. Sure enough, it got scared and stopped swaying. The soul essence then flew into Lin Lan's Soul Vessel.

"That's more like it, Little Mudfish. Next time we kill a Commander Level demon, I'll let you absorb it first." Having finally obtained a soul essence, Lin Lan hurriedly painted Little Mudfish a big picture.

"Lanzi, that's what you said, alright?" Mo Fan grinned. A Commander Level soul essence could sell for a hundred million; if they really let Little Mudfish absorb one, he would be set for life. Little Mudfish began swaying again in excitement.

"We'll talk about it when the time comes." Lin Lan had nearly forgotten that the two of them were cut from the same cloth.

And so, after killing who knew how many demons, the two men and one eagle headed back. Lin Lan and Mo Fan lay sprawled atop the Crimson Wind Eagle, thoroughly enjoying themselves. It could serve as transportation, they could sleep on it when tired, and it could fight demons too—having a Summoned Beast like this was truly comfortable.

Selling the demon bones brought in another six million, split evenly between them. Lin Lan's savings had reached fourteen million, while Mo Fan had taken another step closer to buying a Spirit Seed.

"Mo Fan, tomorrow's your duel with that idiot Yu Ang. Make sure you cripple him."

"Got it—"
