Fei Xiao is free-spirited, unconventional, energetic, and strongly inclined to handle matters herself. She is highly competitive, eagerly proposing a friendly spar with Lu Jiang soon after arriving, but she is not a sore loser and acknowledges when he has the advantage. 143 144

In battle, she is direct and fearless, but she is not indiscriminately violent. During the campaign against the southwestern rebels, she judges their Soul Masters to be beyond mercy before killing them. She also refuses an Evil Soul Master's recruitment attempt on principle. 145 146
