Sudden Incident

Seeing Scarface dead, Xia Mo turned to help Wu Hao and the others. With Xia Mo joining the fight, the remaining four followed in Scarface's footsteps.

Xia Mo went downstairs to inspect Scarface and discovered that the man still had a low-grade Storage Ring on his hand. It seemed he had done no shortage of evil in the Black Corner Region. Xia Mo removed the Storage Ring and returned upstairs. As for the corpse, someone would come to deal with it later.

"This..." Wu Hao and Mu Yang could not help but gape at the sight. Only then did Wu Hao understand why Xia Mo had refused to fight him. Even if Xia Mo had held back—no, even if he had held back immensely—Wu Hao still could not possibly have won. This guy was actually a Da Dou Shi. Wu Hao thought to himself, What a freak. He's not human.

Xia Mo had no idea someone was criticizing him in their mind. He was sitting off to the side "resting," making it seem as though the battle had exhausted him. Well, he was simply lazy and did not want to deal with the bodies. That was all.

Xia Mo used his soul force to inspect the contents of the Storage Ring. This guy really had quite a few things. As expected, murder and arson brought wealth. A Da Dou Shi from the Black Corner Region possessed: a gold card containing three hundred thousand gold coins, two Third-tier Monster Cores, ten second-tier Monster Cores, the Profound-tier low-grade gold-attribute cultivation method, "Golden Saber Art," the Profound-tier mid-grade Dou Technique, "Army Breaker Slash," and several bottles of medicinal pills that Xia Mo considered complete trash.

Mu Yang had already sent out a signal, and the other members of the Enforcement Team had rushed over.

Mu Yang explained the situation to them and asked them to help dispose of the corpses. The Enforcement Team members all stared at Xia Mo in shock, never expecting him to be a Da Dou Shi.

Sun Hao made a record of the incident. Emergency handling of unexpected events in Peace Town earned contribution points. The captain would record them, and after they returned and reported it, the points would be issued to a card distributed by the Outer Academy. The card's sole purpose was to record contribution points.

Once the others had finished dealing with the corpses, the teams split up again. After all, their patrol mission was not yet complete.

Two days later, in the central area of Peace Town's XC District.

Sun Hao was patrolling the streets with three Enforcement Team members when he suddenly heard crying and shouting. He immediately led the four team members toward the source of the noise.

When they arrived, two strange people were sitting on the ground, crying and shouting. Sun Hao gave his companions a meaningful look.

Sun Hao stepped forward and asked, "What happened?"

"Someone's going to die," came the only reply.

The two suddenly charged at them. Sun Hao discovered that they were both Da Dou Shi. The two Da Dou Shi were incredibly fast, reaching Sun Hao and the others in the blink of an eye.

One of them was tall and burly, powerfully built like a gorilla. Sun Hao sensed that he was a four-star Da Dou Shi. He viciously threw out both fists, and yellow fist-light blasted toward Sun Hao's head with heaven-shattering, earth-rending force.

The other Da Dou Shi was thin as a bamboo pole, little more than skin and bones. The skin on his face was dry and wrinkled like old tree bark. He was a five-star Da Dou Shi.

He cultivated the Poison Master technique, Withered Bone Art. With a strike of both palms, he released two streams of dark gray mist that enveloped the other three Enforcement Team members.

Once touched by that dark gray mist, the flesh and blood of the three Enforcement Team members would wither and age at the fastest possible speed, turning them into dried corpses. The team members knew that they would only hold Sun Hao back, so they immediately retreated. But their strength was too low. Before Sun Hao could stop them, one of them was still killed by the poison.

Seeing this, Sun Hao immediately moved to stop the bamboo-pole Da Dou Shi, who promptly attacked him.

Sun Hao was then caught in a pincer attack from both sides. The two struck with ruthless killing moves, seeking to kill Sun Hao before even stating their reason.

Sun Hao's figure retreated rapidly. In an instant, he withdrew over thirty meters, evading the assassination attempt of the two Da Dou Shi.

"Send the signal now!" Sun Hao began doing everything he could to hold the two back, allowing his teammates to send a signal for help.

Seeing Sun Hao hold off the two men, the Enforcement Team members hurriedly took out the signal device and activated it.

Sun Hao's retreating steps abruptly stopped. He summoned his Dou Qi Armor, Dou Qi bursting from his entire body as he shot like an arrow toward the bamboo-pole Da Dou Shi. Gripping his saber, he slashed down fiercely.

Then he spun around, using his saber to block the attack from the gorilla-like Da Dou Shi.

Though he was alone and merely a student of Jia Nan Academy, the force he unleashed left both Da Dou Shi deeply alarmed.

In particular, the killing intent erupting from his body made the two Da Dou Shi feel as though they had been plunged into a sea of blood. The pressure nearly suffocated them. He seemed even more insane than they were.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

A series of explosive crashes rang out. It was the sound of his saber smashing into the gorilla-like man's body.

The imposing, massively built Da Dou Shi was actually forced back several steps by Sun Hao's frenzied defense.

Seizing the opening, Sun Hao fiercely attacked the bamboo-pole Da Dou Shi. He knew that this kind of vicious Poison Master was even more troublesome.

With a chopping strike, he sent the bamboo-pole Da Dou Shi flying back. He then raised his saber high, roared, and brought it down.

"Green Wood Slash!"

The saber-light struck far too quickly. The bamboo-pole Da Dou Shi, who had just been knocked back by a slash, had no chance to dodge.

Boom! Crack!

Green saber-light swallowed the bamboo-pole Da Dou Shi's figure and cleaved him into the ground.

The bamboo-pole Da Dou Shi spat out blood. His clothes were tattered as he stood at the bottom of the crater, half his body buried beneath the rubble.

His Dou Qi Armor had shattered, leaving his body unprotected. Unfortunately, the strike lacked sufficient follow-through and had not severely injured him.

By the time he crawled out of the bottom of the trench, his entire body had turned bluish-green, and his tree-bark-like face looked as though it were covered in moss.

The bamboo-pole Da Dou Shi was furious. Boundless killing intent erupted from him as he drew a thin black sword. "Big guy, hold him off. Finish this quickly—we're out of time!" Ignoring everything else, he charged toward the remaining team members.

After all, he cultivated the insidious and vicious Withered Bone Art. He was destined not to be a fierce warrior who charged head-on.

Meeting force with force in a frontal clash was the gorilla-like Da Dou Shi's style.

Seeing this, Sun Hao shouted, "Retreat!" But he was held back.

Before long, another team member was killed. Seeing this, Sun Hao launched a barrage of attacks to hold the two men back.

"Big guy, we're leaving. If we keep fighting, we won't be able to get away. The other Enforcement Team members are coming," the bamboo-pole Da Dou Shi said as he forced Sun Hao back and signaled the gorilla-like Da Dou Shi with his eyes.

The two then drove Sun Hao back and began fleeing madly toward the outskirts of Peace Town.

Seeing this, Sun Hao said, "Li Kai, stay here and wait for the others. I'll pursue those two bastards. I'll leave marks along the way." With that, he chased after them.

On Fourth Street in Peace Town's XC District, Xia Mo and the others were sitting in a shady spot, resting. Xia Mo held a candied hawthorn skewer he had just bought. He had asked Wu Hao and Mu Yang, but neither of them wanted any.

"We can go back to the academy tomorrow. Once we're back, I'm definitely going to get some proper rest. What are you two planning to do after we return?" Mu Yang asked.

"Keep doing missions," Xia Mo replied.

"Cultivate," Wu Hao said.

Hearing their answers, Mu Yang rolled his eyes and decided he did not want to talk anymore. Suddenly, a distress signal appeared in the sky above the center of the XC District.

Seeing the signal, Mu Yang sprang to his feet. "Something happened. Come on, let's get over there!" he said urgently, then ran toward the center.

Xia Mo and Wu Hao said nothing in response. They simply followed Mu Yang immediately...
