Background

Shrek was a ten-thousand-year-old Soul Master academy whose prestige rested on the first-generation Shrek Seven Devils’ victory over Spirit Hall. Its reputation as the continent’s premier academy allowed it to attract exceptional talents, then select the strongest among them; Mu En later admitted that this influx of geniuses, rather than uniquely superior teaching, underpinned Shrek’s position. 108 113

The academy maintained close ties to the continent’s noble class. Shrek City offered subsidies to ordinary Soul Masters, but the city generally did not permit them to settle there; academy applicants also required a recommendation from a main-city lord, a difficult barrier for low-level Soul Masters. 17

Shrek possessed a deep resource base, including Golden Tree training rooms constructed from more than a thousand Fear Demon Dragon Head Spirit Bones each. At the All-Continent Advanced Soul Master Tournament, Shrek lost to the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy after Xiao Qiang defeated Dai Yueheng. The result ended Shrek’s long-standing undefeated image and left it runner-up. 107 108 112

Shrek initially attributed its weakened lineup to a mission against an Evil Soul Master. Under public questioning, Yan Shaozhe admitted the opponent had been only a five-ring Soul King with three yellow and two purple Spirit Rings, despite Shrek’s team having included two Soul Emperors and five Soul Kings. 109 110

The loss alarmed Shrek’s leadership because its ability to recruit geniuses depended on retaining the title of the continent’s foremost academy. Mu En warned that repeated defeats could strip Shrek of the prestige that sustained its talent pipeline. 113

Exchange Program and Espionage

Shrek negotiated an exchange arrangement with the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy: Xiao Hongchen entered Shrek, while Bei Bei, Ling Luochen, and Xiao Xiao studied in the Sun Moon Empire. Shrek accepted the unfavorable one-for-three exchange because it sought access to Sun Moon Soul Tool knowledge. 153 176

During the exchange, Shrek representatives Fan Yu, Huo Yuhao, and He Caitou attempted to steal Soul Tool blueprints and a Sun Moon Empire mecha. They were caught with recorded evidence, leaving Shrek unable to demand redress despite their students’ injuries during capture. 168 173

The failed operation blocked Shrek’s plan to acquire Sun Moon Soul Tool blueprints. Mu En consequently viewed recruiting Sun Moon Soul Tool Masters and learning from exchange students as Shrek’s remaining path toward advancing its Soul Tool technology. 177

During the later tournament, Huo Yuhao displayed eight simulated Hundred Thousand Year Spirit Rings while Gong Changlong secretly assisted Shrek’s team. Xiao Qiang exposed and froze Gong Changlong, making it impossible to portray the intervention as an individual student’s personal action. 277

The exposure prompted relatives of deceased Shrek students to demand accountability. Shrek’s cheating became only the immediate trigger; the academy’s casualties, resource practices, and teaching quality became the broader cause of its reputational collapse. 278

Xuan Zi’s attempt to defend Shrek worsened the situation when he revealed that the first-generation Shrek Seven Devils had improved their Martial Souls through Immortal Herbs supplied by Tang San. The crowd drove Shrek’s representatives out of Mingdu City. 279

Decline and Final Destruction

After its public collapse, Shrek struggled to recruit students. Within two years, its enrollment fell so far that it reportedly received no applicants; it could no longer seize students from Spirit Hall academies because it lacked the strength to confront Spirit Hall directly. 316

Shrek later conquered a weakly defended foreign land by force, after which it became known as the Shrek Continent. The campaign further depleted Shrek’s remaining students and personnel. 318 319

Xiao Qiang advanced to level 100 and led the Sun Moon Empire’s army to surround Shrek City. Meng Hongchen broke Shrek’s final resistance, defeated Yan Shaozhe, and enabled the army’s advance. The Golden Tree was toppled, and Shrek was officially declared annihilated. 320 321
