Chenji Expounds the Dharma

Within Dakini Heaven, Li Qi and his wife spoke directly with White Chen Fox King Bodhisattva.

However, this Bodhisattva did not seem inclined to exchange pleasantries before letting Li Qi and the others leave. Instead, she opened with an utterly baffling question.

She asked Li Qi whether the past and future existed.

Li Qi did not know what she intended, but it was obvious that White Chen Fox King Bodhisattva was saying he was wrong.

You dared say I was wrong about my fundamental understanding of the structure of spacetime!?

This was a dispute of Dao!

The moment you tried to correct my Dao, a dispute of Dao became unavoidable.

Yet White Chen Fox King Bodhisattva said, "Why do you say that? Isn't this the same as your view? We should have common ground on this."

Her words left Li Qi speechless.

Indeed, their views could actually coexist harmoniously.

What White Chen Fox King Bodhisattva had just said was that everything had long since been decided.

In other words, the world was a book that had already been written. The characters within it did not know they had already been laid out in ink. To those within the book, the past, present, and future were clearly distinct, yet though distinct, they could not be separated; they formed one continuous whole.

Such a structure could reconcile the two contradictory conclusions that "the future and present are one" and "the future truly exists."

Everything was fated. Li Qi was bound to encounter these events, and he was bound to obtain the power of the "future." Everything was inevitable.

From this perspective, all of it was inevitable.

Li Qi immediately said, "If that is what Bodhisattva believes, then that is truly somewhat... pitiful."
