Changed His Mind
The military factory at night.
The workers on the assembly line had all gone home, yet Fengzi and several engineers were still crouched in the workshop, studying how to optimize the machinery.
They were arguing fiercely over whether to replace a certain component. Fengzi was already slapping the table, and the others were red-faced as well. But their dispute was limited to technical matters. After spending the afternoon together, coupled with Fengzi's naturally easygoing personality, she had successfully become one of the military factory's own.
By now, everyone looked at her as one of their own. Fengzi's professional skills were also solid, and several of her suggestions had been valuable, though whether they would prove effective still remained to be seen.
By then, they had completely lost track of time. It was not until the roar of an engine shattered the night's silence that a red motorcycle, waved through by the guards, drove straight into the factory and finally stopped in front of Fengzi.
When Fengzi saw the rider remove his helmet, a look of surprise appeared on her face.
"I thought Woman F had come to settle accounts with me. Come to think of it, how did her motorcycle end up with you?"
"I met her just now and borrowed her bike for a ride," Zhang Heng said. "So, are you ready to call it a day?"
"Mm-hmm. Since you're here, let's head back together." Fengzi said goodbye to the engineers she had been discussing things with, then climbed onto the back seat of the motorcycle.
Zhang Heng twisted the throttle. The motorcycle let out a roar and sped out of the military factory.
Zhang Heng did not say anything along the way. In the end, Fengzi could not hold back any longer and spoke first.
