It all happened too fast. Fan Mei Nan had not even reacted, let alone had time to dodge. Then the searing pain in her chest traveled through her nerves to her brain. Her eyes widened, filled with shock and confusion. Her lips moved as if she wanted to say something.
But the next moment, everything went black before her eyes, and her body toppled backward. She first crashed into the table, knocking over the kettle and cups on it, then slowly slid down against the table. In the end, her head lolled to one side, and she did not move again.
Blood gradually soaked through her hoodie, and the light completely faded from her eyes.
Cheng Si Han stood before her, looking down at her younger sister's corpse with a complicated expression. Wang Li Rong, lying in the other bed, was finally awakened by the sound of the kettle hitting the floor.
