A Major Problem
In twelve seconds, Zhang Heng fired seventeen arrows, with barely any misses. More than half the pack of dogs was killed or wounded as a result.
When he landed, he pressed his back against one of the badminton hall's walls to avoid being surrounded again. Then he drew Hidden Sheath from his waist and easily dealt with another six dogs. The remaining dogs finally grew afraid, no longer charging at him. Tails tucked between their legs, they scattered in all directions.
Zhang Heng did not pursue them. For one thing, after what had happened, those dogs should be frightened enough not to return. For another, that battle had nearly depleted the arrows in his quiver.
Afterward, however, he searched the badminton hall once more to make sure there were no other stray dogs inside before returning to the room where they had stored their food.
Kratos had already started sweeping the scraps on the floor outside. She had also sorted out enough uncontaminated food to barely last them through tonight and tomorrow morning. Seeing this, Zhang Heng suggested, "After dinner, we can search some of the nearby houses for more food."
However, Kratos shook her head. "No need."
"Hm?"
"Tonight, we'll return to the Pripyat Grand Hotel." Kratos looked as though she had made up her mind.
"Are you planning to investigate Shcherbina?" Zhang Heng raised an eyebrow. "But the Expert Group hasn't realized that the reactor core might melt through the concrete slab, come into contact with the suppression pool, and trigger a thermal explosion. The three engineers who opened the drainage valves haven't appeared yet, and neither have the miners arrived in Pripyat."
"What they did was undoubtedly important. They could even be called heroes. But honestly, I don't think they're the people we're looking
