"Isis, with her son Horus in her arms." Miss Succubus took some blueberries and cherry tomatoes from the bar counter, then plopped down on a Chivas sofa. "This image is quite famous. You can see it in many museums and ancient books."
Zhang Heng nodded, then shifted his gaze to the wall behind the bronze statue.
A mural had been painted there. The woman in it was probably also Isis, but she wore another form here. Half-kneeling on the ground with her arms spread wide, she had a pair of multicolored feathered wings behind her. Behind her stood an owl, a vulture, and a bird resembling a quail.
Zhang Heng stared at the mural for a while, feeling as if the owl in it had suddenly blinked. But when he looked again, the owl had returned to its original pose, as though nothing had happened.
Zhang Heng glanced back at Miss Succubus and found her busy dealing with the plate of blueberries and cherry tomatoes. She had clearly not noticed what had just happened, so he did not ask her about it.
The two waited in the lounge for about twenty minutes before the Egyptian woman who had brought them here returned and said to Miss Succubus on the sofa, "Lady Isis has finished bathing. Please go to her bedroom."
"Sure." Miss Succubus set the remaining half plate of cherry tomatoes aside, clapped her hands, rose from the sofa, and headed outside.
Zhang Heng silently followed behind her, but the Egyptian woman raised a hand to stop him. "Oh, sorry. Lady Isis only asked for Miss Trista. Please wait here for the time being."
"But I'm the one who actually needs to see her," Zhang Heng said.
The Egyptian woman looked apologetic, but she remained rather insistent on this matter
