The Amga45 sped down the highway.
Zhang Heng did not drive in the direction indicated by the magic compass. Instead, he first drove one hundred kilometers at an angle fifteen degrees eastward, then recorded the compass's bearing again.
Next, he took a map from his travel bag and connected the starting point and endpoint on it. Using the principle of triangulation, he could determine the distance between himself and the target.
Zhang Heng extended two rays according to the compass's two bearings, and they ultimately intersected at a single point. That was where Set was located. Of course, it was only an approximate result, contingent on Set not having moved during that time. Otherwise, the margin of error could be considerable.
By the time he finished locating him, the magic compass's one-hour duration had expired. Zhang Heng did not immediately activate it a second time. Judging from the first calculation, they were still far apart, so he decided to drive for a while longer and perform the second location when he neared the calculated position.
