Waterfall and Tattoo
Zhang Heng drew his bow. An arrow flew from his fingertips, striking a drone with precision and blowing out its camera.
But then the nearby drones surged toward Zhang Heng like a school of sharks scenting blood. For a moment, the whir of spinning propellers filled his ears.
Zhang Heng's expression remained unchanged. He drew another arrow from his quiver and accurately hit a second drone. This time, the out-of-control drone collided with another incoming drone, and the two fell from the sky together.
By then, Zhang Heng had already nocked his third arrow... In less than half a minute, he had destroyed twelve drones. Yet the number of drones in the sky did not decrease. They continued arriving in an endless stream, while some rose immediately after locating Zhang Heng, ascending to a safe altitude before firmly locking onto him from above.
These drones had originally been meant to track Zhang Heng, and now they had carried out their task perfectly. From this moment on, every move Zhang Heng made would be visible to the pursuit team.
After firing eleven arrows, Zhang Heng stopped. It was not because he had shown mercy, but because his quiver was nearly empty.
To conserve ammunition as much as possible, Zhang Heng had chosen to use his bow against the drones. Unfortunately, he did not have many arrows on him either. He had previously tried making a batch himself, but before he could finish, the search party had arrived. If he had been given another half day, perhaps he would not have run short of arrows.
But now, Zhang Heng could only relocate. This time, however, the search party had effectively grasped his route. Not only had their encirclement sped up, but gunmen had also begun directly attacking his position.
