Bonus Story Three: A Hunt 1

During his time in the Literary Salon instance dungeon, Zhang Heng had gone hunting with Hemingway almost every week. But as he had said himself, it was difficult for him to derive any enjoyment from it.

Partly because he could no longer feel much emotion, and partly because it posed almost no challenge to him.

It was like accepting a quest to gather a certain number of newly ripened wild fruits or battered suits of armor. The process of completing it was merely mechanical repetition. If not for the final quest reward, no player would bother doing it.

But this hunt was different. Zhang Heng felt pressure and challenge.

He got up early that morning, dressed, took his Hunting Rifle and ammunition, and left the house.

Zhang Heng first went to the dining room for breakfast. The sun had only risen not long ago, yet Hemingway and the others had already been waiting for him on the lawn outside for quite some time. Even the Bestselling Fantasy Author, who usually had little interest in hunting, had come. There were nearly thirty people in all.

No matter what era they were placed in, this group could probably stir up a storm of bloodshed in literary circles. If they stood on the street, readers seeking autographs would likely line up from downtown to the suburbs. But this time, none of them were the protagonists. They were merely spectators, chattering away about the upcoming hunt.

"Who do you think will win, Gardner?" Agatha asked a slightly plump man beside her wearing a cowboy hat and glasses.

"We've all seen Zhang Heng's marksmanship. He's practically infallible—no prey can escape his muzzle. So... I'm picking that girl." Gardner, also a member of the mystery club, thought for a moment.
