When Zhang Heng spotted the few small cabins in the dense forest, a system notification sounded in his ear.
But before he could examine it closely, a gun barrel pressed against his back.
The armed Finnish guerrilla was the very man who had crept up beside the campfire earlier. Zhang Heng was certain that the man had felt a strong urge to pull the trigger then.
However, the female sniper beside him had shouted something afterward, making him abandon that thought in the end. But the gun barrel never left Zhang Heng's body. Once the rest of his companions arrived, another man joined in guarding him, while the others chopped branches and made a stretcher to carry the wounded female sniper.
The Finnish guerrilla holding the submachine gun tossed the Soviet uniform on the ground to the bare-chested Zhang Heng, but kept his down jacket. Zhang Heng said nothing and silently put on the sheepskin military uniform.
He could tell that the Finnish guerrillas did not trust him. They had only refrained from killing him immediately out of consideration for the female sniper, but her condition was not good now. Even her life hung in the balance.
Fortunately, the Finnish guerrillas took good care of their own. Realizing that the female sniper urgently needed treatment, they wasted no time and immediately set off with Zhang Heng.
Yet an hour and a half later, the female sniper on the stretcher still slipped into unconsciousness. Thankfully, after another hour of walking, they finally returned to their outpost.
Two Finnish guerrillas carried the stretcher briskly into a cabin on the left, while Zhang Heng was locked alone in another wooden cabin.
