Gabi continued calling out names, and most of the people had already been assigned their roles.

The result left some delighted and others miserable.

After all, the Gladiator School existed to put on spectacular shows for the audience. It also had to consider vacancies in each role and how many gladiators it already had, so some people were assigned to roles they did not particularly want.

Gabi told them that if they ultimately passed the assessment and became gladiators, then survived five performances, they could come to him and change roles if they still disliked their assignment. However, Gabi also warned some of them that they needed to give it their all before then and not slack off. Otherwise, they might not live to see the day they could change roles.

"Zhang Heng." Gabi finally called Zhang Heng's name. "Dual Blade Gladiator."

Zhang Heng nodded to show that he had heard.

As the name implied, a Dual Blade Gladiator fought with two blades. The only defensive equipment on his entire body was a helmet. In other words, it was a purely offensive role. Although gladiators generally did not wear heavy armor, most at least carried a shield.

By comparison, the Dual Blade Gladiator was a purely offensive role. Like the Net Gladiator, it had a low win rate in the arena but a high death rate. Still, it was the role best suited for Zhang Heng to unleash his full combat strength.

Yet the Dual Blade Gladiator had not been Zhang Heng's first choice. He had wanted to be a Pursuit Gladiator, for a simple reason: Pursuit Gladiators usually faced Net Gladiators, who were widely regarded as one of the easier roles to bully in the arena. Moreover, Pursuit Gladiators carried shields, making it easier to coast.
