Bach and Rufus's duel became the most thrilling part of the first day's performance, and many people talked about it with relish.
The entire show had blood, clashing muscles, unexpected reversals, and the death of a fairly famous gladiator. It had almost every element needed to draw attention, and Bach's name began reaching more ears.
"A formidable newcomer has appeared at Victor Arena!" That was what people were saying in the streets and alleys.
Macrus and Gabi's initial plan could be considered a success. Of course, the actual results would have to wait until Bach's second appearance. Still, thanks to Bach and the slain Rufus, attendance at the arena saw a slight increase over the next two days.
Soon, the third day arrived.
Zhang Heng and Valo returned to the underground level of Victor Arena.
To maximize dramatic effect, many arenas had similar designs. The upper level was a wooden floor covered in sand, while the lower level resembled a theater backstage area. There was an armory, beast cages, and preparation rooms. When needed, special lifts could carry people or beasts up to the ground, making them appear as if they had suddenly emerged from the earth.
The two of them had worked here before they began their training. Now they had returned to their original starting point, though unfortunately, there were no mirrors in the preparation room.
All the gladiators participating in the Twelve-Man Melee were now gathered here, and every face wore a different expression.
Some silently wiped down their weapons and adjusted their armor. Some performed strange pre-battle rituals. Of course, some seemed perfectly relaxed. Nasica, for instance, was chatting and laughing with the partner beside him.
This was already his ninth time participating in the Twelve-Man Melee. He had won seven of his previous eight melees.
