As agreed, Zhang Heng personally appointed Soap as the new boss to take over the forces Iron Shackles had left behind. Afterward, he had Marcus handle coordination with Soap.
They both understood that Zhang Heng intended for Marcus to become the gang's actual manager. However, Marcus was a member of the Patrol Team and was unsuitable for serving as the boss of any faction, so Zhang Heng pushed Soap to the forefront, which could also protect Marcus to a certain extent.
Neither of them had any objections to this.
Soap had transformed from a lowly thief into a gang boss, escaping a life of continued stealing and achieving something of a rise in status. Marcus, however, valued not the little power in his hands, but Zhang Heng's favor. He seemed to have made up his mind to bet everything on Zhang Heng, even saying that, if necessary, he could leave the Patrol Team and take direct control of the gang.
