True Purpose
Zhang Heng had to admit that of the four people on the second floor, the one he had paid the least attention to was the young man called Megaphone, because Megaphone had the weakest presence among them.
Yet the moment Megaphone spoke, he immediately drew everyone's attention. Zhang Heng had previously heard quite a bit about the Hive from Soap and Ali, and knew that this most mysterious force in the Southeast District possessed formidable intelligence-gathering capabilities.
What surprised Zhang Heng, therefore, was not that they even knew what he had eaten for breakfast, but that the Hive had actually spoken up for him.
That was right. On the surface, Megaphone seemed to be showing off, demonstrating that a top force in the Southeast District could keep track of his every move, while also warning him not to try lying from this point on.
But Zhang Heng also noticed that Megaphone had especially emphasized the close relationship between Zhang Heng and Commodus, while also classifying Klind as one of Zhang Heng's political allies.
If there was any flaw in Zhang Heng's plan, it was that his alliance with Klind was not particularly solid. Although he had offered Klind a win-win proposal and believed Klind would be willing to accept it, the fact that he could use this approach also meant that the major Southeast District factions led by the Jewish Gang could use the same method to draw Klind over to their side.
Zhang Heng had already analyzed this before. There were political forces behind the Southeast District as well. The Jewish Gang, Golden Crown, and the Hive did not rule this place through violence alone. Every year, they spent huge sums bribing those bloated aristocrats in the Senate in order to maintain this district's semi-autonomous status.
That
