Knocking at the Door
After locking the door, Han Lu deliberately stood behind it for a while, pressing her eye to the peephole and watching the corridor.
But this time, no strange knocking came, nor did anyone pass by her door.
Han Lu then went to the window to make sure it was tightly shut. She even read through the English fire safety instructions on the wall.
Although Yonaguni Island looked peaceful beneath the night sky, for some reason, Han Lu could not shake the feeling of unease lingering in her heart.
Nelly had once said that Yonaguni Island had always had excellent public security, with almost no criminal cases. The island was only so large, and practically everyone knew one another. Besides, once someone committed a crime, all they had to do was set up checkpoints at the airport and docks, and the culprit would have nowhere to run.

Han Lu tried to comfort herself with the same reasoning. Although she had discovered that the troops stationed on the island were likely connected to the monsters beneath the sea, judging by their reactions, they had not yet taken any drastic action against her or Nelly. Whether it was taking the SD card or making that underwater tunnel disappear by some unknown means, they were merely trying to conceal the truth by eliminating physical evidence.
That was also why Han Lu believed she was still relatively safe for the moment. If they had wanted to make a move against her, they could have detained or killed her the first time she and Nelly arrived outside the military base. Otherwise, there would have been no need to go through all the trouble of staging
