Zhang Heng and Electronic Sheep's second meeting had not been pleasant. It ended with Electronic Sheep splashing beer on an innocent woman standing behind Zhang Heng, an act that had nearly sparked a fight in the bar.
But early the next morning, when Zhang Heng arrived at the Central Shuttle station, he saw Electronic Sheep standing outside the entrance with a dark expression.
"Morning. You haven't had breakfast yet, have you?" Zhang Heng greeted him as he handed over the other bag of pineapple buns he was carrying.
"You were sure I'd come, weren't you?" Electronic Sheep did not take the pineapple buns. His face was livid as he said, "You're too despicable. You knew I wouldn't stand by after hearing that Xu Qian was in danger."
"You're overthinking it. I just brought two pineapple buns for breakfast. Since you came, I'm sharing one with you," Zhang Heng said. "Besides, if I remember correctly, I used the word 'possibly' last night."
Electronic Sheep looked conflicted, but he eventually reached out and accepted the pineapple bun. "Let's get one thing straight. I'll only handle matters related to Xu Qian. If I find out you're using Xu Qian's name to make me help you with something else, I'll turn around and leave."
"No problem." Zhang Heng nodded. "Fill out the application first."
Under New Shanghai 0297's regulations, residents of lower-level spaces who wanted to take the Central Shuttle to higher levels had to submit an application online before they could buy tickets. Fortunately, the process was not complicated. So long as they generally had no criminal record, their application would be approved. And if they were traveling together, only one person needed to apply, then add the IDs of the accompanying travelers afterward.
At that, Electronic Sheep immediately grew wary again.
