"This is getting a little exciting. How did we go from home turf to away turf?"
Carefully slipping through the drainage ditch, Lu PingAn avoided another patrol of Fishmen.
Fishman hunters were everywhere here. Lu PingAn spotted familiar cave dwellings. These Fishmen were planning to settle here for the long term.
Within the range of Lu PingAn's Eye of Truth, the Fishmen had come with their families, large and small. One large Fishman was often accompanied by more than a dozen smaller ones.
That did not seem like a good thing. It meant they were still settling down here.
Why? Wouldn't they be better suited to the water? Even as amphibians, Fishmen should prioritize living underwater, shouldn't they? As far as Lu PingAn knew, Fishmen could not live on land for extended periods. Skin that became too dry would kill them.
Lu PingAn was curious, so...
"I see. They were pretty ruthless."
Inside a small house lay a Fishman dissected with meticulous cleanliness before Lu PingAn.
The brain was set to one side, the skin to another, and the flesh to yet another. The entire room reeked of stench and fishiness, while disgusting Meat Chunks covered the floor. Yet Lu PingAn wore a strange smile.
"Parasites. Three known types: in the brain, beneath the fat layer, and in the internal organs. Tsk, tsk. No wonder they're skin and bones."
There were all kinds of disgusting parasites—threadlike ones, strip-shaped ones, and even ones resembling moth larvae. The Ocean probably would not naturally evolve such things. Invasive species often enjoyed short-term immunity from the food chain, so it was obviously unrealistic for Parasitic Seeds tailored to them to evolve so quickly.
"Diseases... uh, too many to distinguish. This Fishman's natural lifespan is probably less than a tenth of what it used to
