Some said war was a grand stage that brought death. That was no rumor. Once you stepped onto that grand stage, your life might no longer belong to you.
"No saving them. Next."
Lu PingAn had been reassigned once again. Although he had applied several times to join the frontline war, most of his mission time was still spent in medical work.
His healing methods were among the few capable of immediately pulling demigods back from the brink of death. Even so, quite a few warriors had still died in his hands, leaving him in a foul mood.
"Is this a curse? Or something else?"
Lu PingAn's "Deferred Payment" could divide "wounds to life" into installments, restoring the injured at the level of World's Logic.
Previously, it had worked on practically any wound or illness. Looking back now, the difficulty level he had faced back then had simply been too low.
Top-tier Professionals could be regarded as the accumulated foundation of a Small World. When they truly risked their lives to directly confront a divine kingdom and lost their very existence, all Lu PingAn could heal was their "life."
Once those things were gone, they were gone. Preserving the life of their incarnation held little real meaning.
Even more helplessly, once an existence had lost most of itself, the reins restraining "pollution" would snap as well. Losing control was only a matter of time.
Lu PingAn could delay the erosion of pollution, but the "balance" had already been shattered. It only meant dying a little later.
And that was only part of the trouble. Like the unlucky fellow before him, some even carried their opponent's "curse." Even cutting it away could not strip it off. It was merely a question of dying sooner or later.
"I'll take two with me."
