Settling In

After returning, most Explorers entered a brief vacation period.

Lu PingAn had originally planned to take a month off as well, but having stood out too much this time, he clearly had no time to slack off.

After spending two or three days back on his Homeworld, he was, either willingly or unwillingly, thrown into a new round of work.

Lu PingAn's "voluntary application" did not draw much attention. In the eyes of some higher-ups, it was merely Lu PingAn taking the initiative to show goodwill, finding himself something to do and contributing more through his outstanding combat strength.

"They don't understand. They are ultimately products of a peaceful social order, cogs in the state machine. They value making the most of everything and following seniority."

Having experienced war, Lu PingAn was even more certain of the importance of "strength" in the New Era.

In the eyes of his superiors, the so-called Temporary Security Brigade was just a group of "Prisoner Army" troops, a temporary measure, a clever means of using barbarians to control barbarians. Clever though such methods were, they often had no follow-up.

But Lu PingAn saw the reality of gathering so many "reformable" Law Decree-level powerhouses. It was easy to summon them together, but difficult to disband them afterward.

These powerhouses had lost everything. They were important cogs that had slipped out of the machine. Give them a platform and an opportunity, and most of them would become "cogs" in the new society.

And these core cogs would spread their influence outward. They truly were phoenixes fallen on hard times; as long as they found a phoenix tree to rest upon, they would soon take flight again.

"This system will probably become the norm."

The perspectives of frontline officers and rear-echelon commanders were different. Intelligence fed back
