"By the way, disciple, you said earlier that when you comprehended Refining Essence into Qi, you cultivated a large point of light and stored it in your lower dantian, didn't you?"
"Mm. It was very faint at first. Then, when Master had her epiphany last time, I benefited from it as well. Although my realm did not improve much, that point of light became far more solid. Unfortunately, even now, I still do not know what use it has."
Nuwa's heart stirred at this. "Disciple, draw it out and let me take a look."
"Alright!"
Liu Feng spread open his palm, and a point of light appeared above it.
It was exactly the same as the one Nuwa had displayed before Fuxi, only Liu Feng's was slightly brighter.
"So it is indeed so. Disciple, do you know what this is?" Nuwa asked, her eyes delighted but her expression solemn.
"Please enlighten me, Master."
Hearing what his master said, Liu Feng grew serious as well.
Judging from Master's expression, this had to be something extraordinary. Otherwise, she would not be acting like this.
"This is Primordial Qi, the Primordial Ancestral Qi that formed heaven, earth, and all things. After Great God Pangu opened the heavens, the Primordial Ancestral Qi vanished with it. To find it, one would have to venture into the Chaos—but even then, it would be exceedingly difficult to encounter. So, disciple, do you now understand the importance of this Primordial Qi?"
Nuwa gave Liu Feng a brief explanation of how precious Primordial Qi was.
This time, Liu Feng was truly shocked.
"Master, are you certain this is Primordial Qi?"
"Of course. Following the four realms you mentioned before, I too cultivated Primordial Qi. Otherwise, I could not possibly be certain."
As she spoke, Nuwa raised her jade-like hand. A point of light appeared in her palm as well, though it was dimmer than Liu Feng's, as if a gust of wind could snuff it out.
"It's actually Primordial Qi. This really is fortunate!! So the Qi in Refining Essence into Qi refers to Primordial Qi?" Liu Feng's eyes lit up.
If that was truly the case, then he would have to cultivate diligently from now on. This was Primordial Ancestral Qi, the Qi that gave birth to all things—its uses were far too great.
However, Nuwa poured a bucket of cold water over Liu Feng.
"Not entirely. At most, it means there is a chance—or perhaps you and I are simply fortunate enough. Otherwise, what one cultivates will still be ordinary spiritual qi."
"Ah, it can work like that?" Liu Feng naturally knew he was very lucky, but could it actually affect his master too?
"That is exactly how it works. So, disciple, you truly are my lucky star, aren't you?"
Nuwa laughed softly, her smile like the warmest sunlight of spring, instantly illuminating the entire world. The corners of her lips curved slightly upward into a beautiful arc, brimming with endless tenderness.
That smile was like a hundred flowers blooming at once, forming a dazzlingly colorful painting.
Standing to one side, Liu Feng stared blankly at Nuwa's breathtaking smile, an indescribable fascination rising in his heart.
He felt as though he had been placed within a dreamlike immortal realm, where everything around him had become unreal. Only his master's smile remained—so beautiful it took his breath away, making him sink into it of his own accord, even forgetful of time's passing.
What a fool.
Seeing Liu Feng's dazed expression, Nuwa thought to herself.
Still, she was quite pleased. Hehe, as expected, no one could escape my charm.
"Come back to your senses!!"
After a while, Nuwa called softly.
"Ah, cough cough!!"
Returning to himself, Liu Feng saw Nuwa's faintly smiling expression. His old face reddened, and he coughed awkwardly.
"Alright, back to the point. When you heard me say this was Primordial Qi, you did not seem very surprised. Disciple, do you know of Primordial Qi?"
"Mm, some information about Primordial Ancestral Qi did indeed appear in my mind." Liu Feng now attributed everything to his own wild thoughts anyway. No one knew the truth, in any case.
"Oh? Let me hear it." Nuwa looked interested.
"Among the muddled memories, at the initial stage of qi, people often make wondrous use of the acquired. Yet one must note that within the acquired, there are parts that can be utilized and parts that cannot. Those unusable acquired factors cannot even be called acquired in the true sense, because they are exceedingly dark and turbid, beneath mention. Before life is born, all things remain in an undivided chaos, with the nine apertures shut and blocked. After birth, breath scatters through the nine apertures, and one breathes through mouth and nose; the original true qi of primal yang is gradually exhausted until it comes to an end. Thus, when we begin cultivation, the first thing we must do is gather the mind and enter the qi aperture, allowing intent and breath to depend upon one another. In this way, the qi of the Li trigram mingles with that of the Kan trigram, merging the acquired nature and life, and using one's innate nature to receive one's destiny. True yin and true yang belong to the same category of substance. Heaven and earth are like great thieves, stealing the vitality of all things; yet all things, in turn, steal the boundless primordial qi of heaven and earth, using it to sustain the limited lifeblood within our bodies. In the end, one achieves the realm where heaven and man become one, making heaven serve one's use and allowing the cycle to continue without end! Only upon realizing the innate realm can it be called true Qi. So then, what exactly is this so-called innate?"
It was precisely that moment of "utmost emptiness, profound stillness": "Primordial Qi emerged from the void."
The Heavenly Mandate primordial spirit represented by the Heavenly Dao, along with the True Taiji Seed, descended into the acquired body carrying this innate breath, becoming the "primal force of transformation and creation, the never-ending wellspring of motion" for all living beings.
The so-called pre-heaven was, in truth, a profound and mysterious concept. It represented not merely a Taiji state on the physiological level, but an extraordinary realm in which humanity and heaven and earth resonated with and merged into one another.
When the Heavenly Mandate primordial spirit and that incomparably mysterious True Taiji Seed quietly descended in the form of a round, radiant point of pre-heaven spiritual light and fused into a person's physiological Taiji, they became its "principle of generation and transformation, its mechanism of ceaselessness."
Though the True Taiji Seed at this moment contained the essences of true yin and true yang, they were still wholly fused together, impossible to distinguish from one another—just like the primordial ancestral Qi from the time when "chaos had yet to be divided" and "yin and yang had yet to separate."
For this very reason, this special qi was called pre-heaven qi—namely, the qi of Taiji undifferentiated chaos, also known as Great Harmony Primordial Qi or Harmonious Balance Qi.
One had to know that throughout the gestation and development of spiritual life in the universe, without this pre-heaven primordial qi to nourish and cultivate it, wishing to produce the pearl, form the elixir, and achieve the sacred infant of the Dharma body was nothing more than a fool's dream.
For cultivators, they needed to focus their minds completely upon the qi aperture and nurture the true seed through the union of Kan and Li.
Afterward, they had to undergo the careful refining of the Lesser Heavenly Circuit, allowing the jade liquid to return and form an elixir, thereby refining the lesser medicine.
Only once the true yang within Kan had truly reached the point of "fullness" could one perform the act of "drawing from Kan to supplement Li," thus triggering the magnificent phenomenon of "the union of heaven and earth."
Only then could the outer medicine transform into inner medicine, the lesser medicine shed its form and become the greater medicine, and finally condense that incomparably precious pre-heaven primordial qi."
At that point, Liu Feng could not continue.
Because his master had, yet again and again and again, entered a state of sudden enlightenment. Dao rhyme appeared around her once more—and she had achieved enlightenment while lying in her recliner.
Liu Feng was already dumbfounded. Did she have to be this absurdly powerful?
His master's identity as the Lead Female Protagonist was confirmed beyond doubt!!!
