Cosmology
Origin and Primordial Qi
The Primordial World was created after Great God Pangu split Chaos. Its vast structure is formed through the interweaving of three thousand laws. 26
Primordial Qi, also called Primordial Ancestral Qi, is described as the most fundamental and pure essence of the world. It gave rise to heaven, earth, living beings, and the principles through which cultivators comprehend the Dao. 15
- Primordial Qi differentiated into interdependent yin and yang energies. 15
- Innate lifeforms born near the beginning of the world still find Primordial Qi extremely difficult to encounter or cultivate. 15 33
- Following Pangu's creation of the world, Primordial Ancestral Qi largely vanished; even entering Chaos does not guarantee finding it. 33
The Three Paths
| Path | Function | Early condition |
|---|---|---|
| Heavenly Dao | Governs the world's laws, principles, celestial cycles, and natural transformations. 26 | Incomplete and unable to achieve perfect order. 26 |
| Earthly Path | Represents the material foundation of the world: land, stars, oceans, and all tangible existence. 26 | Continuously weakened by consumption and neglect. 26 |
| Human Path | Embodies the activities and collective wisdom of intelligent races, including Dragons, Phoenixes, Qilins, Witches, Demons, and the future Human Race. 26 | Initially only a vague consciousness; later controlled by Nuwa. 26 142 |
The three paths are interdependent while retaining relative independence. Their balance supports the stability and development of the entire Primordial World. 26
Heavenly Dao and Calamity Tribulations
The Heavenly Dao uses Calamity Tribulations to remove accumulated instability and preserve the world's balance. Its inability to maintain perfect order causes it to repeatedly initiate such world-shaking conflicts. 26
- The Heavenly Dao does not wish for any being to control the Human Path, since its order would then be altered by that controller's will. 26
- Sainthood is tied to integrating one's Dao foundation and primordial spirit with the Heavenly Dao's imprint; a Sage's authority is therefore not wholly independent. 111
- Attempting to strip away the Heavenly Dao imprint can provoke divine lightning, rejection by the land, erasure through time, or total destruction of one's Dao foundation. 111
- Its three stated core rules are karma and reincarnation, yin-yang balance, and energy conservation. Altering one destabilizes the others. 112
History
Early Era
In the world's early period, lifeforms focused on cultivation and transformation. Liu Feng, an ordinary willow tree born after the world's creation, remained untransformed while neighboring lifeforms left to seek opportunities elsewhere. 1
The Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin Clans became the foremost powers of the era, respectively dominating the oceans, skies, and land. Smaller races—including the Witch Clan—were forced to avoid open conflict with them. 35
Dragon-Han Initial Tribulation
Tensions among the three dominant clans escalated into a devastating war. The conflict shattered mountains and rivers, inflicted enormous losses on all sides, and permanently weakened the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin Clans. 35
Rahula exploited their decline and led the Devil Race in an attempt to conquer the Primordial World. Hong Jun united major experts and rogue cultivators to oppose him. 35
The end of the tribulation destroyed the old order and began a new era of emerging powers and uncertain opportunities. 35
Dao-Demon Conflict and Recovery
Rahula ultimately self-destructed and merged with the Dao as the Yin aspect of the Heavenly Dao. Hong Jun was punished by Karmic Fire, bound to the Heavenly Dao, and appointed Primordial Dao Ancestor to teach and transform the world's beings. 40
Following the conflict, the Primordial World entered a rare period of peace and development. The West, heavily damaged by the war, slowly recovered as Zhun Ti and Jie Yin worked to restore its land, heal living beings, and mend spatial rifts. 43 44
Rise of the Witch and Demon Clans
The Twelve Ancestral Witches, each at the peak Grand Golden Immortal realm, created Great Witches and Witch Soldiers from their bloodlines beneath Mount Buzhou. 43
Meanwhile, countless transformed beings of the Eastern continent were collectively called Demons. Dijun and Donghuang Taiyi consolidated them into the Demon Clan, which became known alongside the Witch Clan as one of the two great clans of the Primordial World. 43
The emerging Witch-Demon rivalry produced direct conflict around Mount Buzhou, where Dijun and Taiyi clashed with Zhurong and Gonggong. 47
