The blood stench at Crocodile Beach had still not dispersed after three days.
In the war two days ago, more than thirty crocodiles had died here: eighteen Su Family Crocodiles and twelve Green Crocodiles. Even more had bled.
After the battle ended, another three wounded Su Family Crocodiles had failed to hold on and died.
No crocodile grieved over it. Once the fight was over, everything returned to normal. Only the wounded savored their pain alone.
The only true victor was Su He. After this battle, he had truly become the king of Crocodile Beach.
At first, only two crocodiles waited for Su He to eat first after catching prey. Then it became twenty or thirty, and then over a hundred.
By today, every crocodile knew that prey had to be offered to the king first. That sunning rock was the king's exclusive territory.
They could truly rename themselves the Su Family Crocodiles now.
Sure enough, war was the catalyst of evolution.
Su He's Internal Organs had completely healed. The recovery ability evolution granted him had healed his wounds before he could even figure out where he had been hurt.
With the crocodiles' offerings, Su He's physique steadily improved.
Everything was developing in a better direction. The only problem was that those Green Crocodiles had not left, instead stationing themselves in the waters six or seven li away.
To crocodiles, that distance was equivalent to directly sticking their mouths into the Su Family Crocodiles' cooking pot.
It left Su He feeling as though thorns pricked his back! Beasts thought too plainly. They were waiting for Su He to be alone. While Su He remained at Crocodile Beach, they did not dare approach lightly.
Su He wanted to lead the Su Family Crocodiles over and kill them. But the casualties would likely be severe. Even if he risked his life, he could not guarantee he would survive the jaws of two giant crocodiles.
Besides—accepting tribute was one thing for the Su Family Crocodiles, but would they agree to follow him into war?
After eating, Su He clamped a rabbit in his jaws and slipped beneath the water, swimming toward Snake Valley under the lake's cover.
Rather than entering through the main valley entrance, he hid underwater and directly dove through the tunnel.
Su He wanted Demon Arts too badly.
To defeat two Green Giant Crocodiles without injury through flesh and blood alone, he would at least need to consume another great tonic and undergo another slumber evolution.
But with the Green Crocodiles around, Su He had to sleep with one eye open. How could he possibly rest easy and enter slumber?
Unless he killed those two Green Crocodiles, Su He could neither sleep nor eat in peace.
His last visit to Snake Valley had been too discourteous, so Su He had brought a gift this time. This rabbit's quality had been doubled by the dice, making it perfect as a present.
Su He swam through the tunnel and emerged from the water. He happily Looked Towards the Green Snake, but before he could speak, a sharp Sky Piercer sound rang out.
Despicable!
Su He swiftly withdrew into his shell.
With a crisp crack, a Water Arrow Shattered against Su He Turtle's shell. The tremendous force jolted him beneath the water.
Demon Arts!
Su He Glanced over. The Green Snake was coiled around a willow tree, and she had opened her mouth to Spit Out a Water Arrow. Its force was no weaker than the sharp teeth of a crocodile's bite.
She had mastered another new Demon Art. How unfair were Demon Transformation Fruits! Whoosh!
Another Water Arrow Shot Towards him, aimed straight at the base of Su He's neck. The Green Snake was not driving him away—she truly wanted to Kill Him! Su He twisted around and met it with his shell.
His shell gave a crisp sound like a Wooden Fish.
"Hiss! Hiss!" The Green Snake cried out.
Since Su He had first met her, it was the first meaningful sound she had made. It probably meant: kill the intruder.
Countless venomous snakes hissed in response.
You bastard! Su He Spit Out the rabbit and roared in the gentlest voice possible, "Aang~"
A gift! Communication! Friends!
"Hiss! Hiss!"
Peeping at the treasure—die!
That was probably what she meant. She thought Su He was coveting her treasure, her lover, or something of the sort.
Though that was true, he only wanted to share, not steal her Demon Transformation Fruit! It was not as if she was the only one who had one! He would master it sooner or later anyway. He merely wanted to learn from her how to master it earlier. Why Bother?
Clang! Another sharp arrow Shot Towards him.
"Hiss! Hiss!"
This snake cry brimmed with even greater malice.
Never-ending Battle!
Had she gone mad?
Watching the Giant Python rapidly swim toward him, Su He flicked his tail and drilled back into the tunnel, swimming toward Crocodile Beach with some frustration.
Snakes were too petty. Su He had only met her three times, and he had always been polite. He had even brought her a rabbit. Why did she insist on making it a Never-ending Battle? Animals did not lie. The Green Snake's hostility toward Su He ran deep! The Green Snake had restrained herself the first two times, yet this time she actually wanted a Never-ending Battle. Those dozen-odd Giant Pythons had likely been newly subdued by her, all for the sake of targeting Su He?
How utterly baffling! How had he made so many enemies for no reason? Could it be that he possessed a disaster-attracting physique? His little pond had been surrounded by a Wolf Pack for half a month. After escaping, he had fought crocodiles for more than half a month. Just when he had finally subdued them, a pack of Green Crocodiles arrived. He had merely wanted to make a friend, even bringing a gift to her door, yet the Green Snake wanted a Never-ending Battle with him.
Who had I offended?
After drilling out of the tunnel and swimming toward Crocodile Beach, Su He caught the faint rotten Demon Transformation Fruit scent of the Green Crocodiles drifting through the air.
It made him deeply uneasy.
As he swam, realization suddenly struck Su He.
Had that Green Snake misunderstood? Su He had rammed a Green Giant Crocodile to death, and its rotten stench had clung to him, making the Green Snake think he was a predator that hunted Demon Transformation Beasts? That was truly unfair. Su He wanted those Green Crocodiles dead even more than she did. So long as those creatures lived, Su He could neither sit nor lie in peace! This misunderstanding was enormous. He had to find a way to clear it up. If only the Green Snake had awakened intelligence. Those with intelligence were easier to coax—he could stage some sort of hero-saving-the-beauty scene...
Su He gradually came to a stop mid-swim.
To my east is a group of crocodiles eyeing my body like hungry tigers, and to my west is a Green Snake who has mastered Demon Arts and wants a Never-ending Battle with me.
Wonderful!
Su He suddenly changed direction and swam toward the waters occupied by the Green Crocodiles. He did not get close, merely allowing his scent to drift out.
Half an hour later, a Green Crocodile dozing on the water's surface with only the top of its head exposed suddenly opened its eyes and anxiously looked around.
It had suddenly smelled that turtle's scent and thought the turtle had led the Crocodile Pack over to kill them. After searching, it only saw Su He standing alone on the distant Sea Surface.
The air froze In an Instant. That turtle seemed to have spotted them too, then Turned and Ran.
A crocodile's brain could not think of much. Instinctively, it did not want the turtle already at its mouth to escape.
"Grrr—" The two Green Giant Crocodiles roared at the same time and gave chase with all the Green Crocodiles.
In the water, turtles did not have a crocodile's speed.
Chase! Kill!
Flee! The Green Crocodiles gave chase. One Green Giant Crocodile even specifically led several Green Crocodiles on a detour to block Su He's path back to Crocodile Beach.
Unfortunately, that turtle fled in blind panic and plunged headfirst into a tunnel on the lakebed.
The leading Green Crocodile instead felt that was perfectly normal. A turtle ought to act Like This—when hunted, it ought to flee obediently and hide.
It led the Green Crocodiles after Su He into the tunnel. They followed it all the way forward, and before they even emerged from the water, they heard the turtle roaring ahead.
Aang~ Run! The treasure thieves are here! Su He leaped out of the water, only to be met by a Water Arrow.
He did not care. He withdrew his head and scrambled desperately toward shore—this was not an act. Nearly twenty crocodiles were chasing him from behind, one of them a Three Zhang Giant Crocodile. Any turtle would be frightened into wetting itself.
Before the Green Snake could Shoot Out a second Water Arrow, the Green Crocodiles had already leaped out of the water, their foul Demon Transformation Fruit scent rushing at her face.
The Green Snake understood the situation in an Instant. She opened her mouth and Spit Out a thick mist, blanketing a vast stretch of water.
Su He was shrouded in mist and could not make out anything even a foot away. He could not see or smell, only hear sounds.
The thick mist was not poisonous, but it blocked sight and masked the Sense of Smell—only for outsiders.
The Green Snake hissed as Giant Pythons slipped into the mist one by one. Their target was clear: the Green Crocodiles in the water. They were obviously unaffected by the mist.
Struggling roars Sounded like thunder.
The Giant Pythons Cannot Do Anything About Su He, but crocodiles lacked hard shells. As Long As a python coiled around their chests and bellies, death was only a matter of time.
Smack! In the thick mist, a crocodile tail lashed Su He. Su He Turned Head and bit down on it, then flung it with all his might.
Crack! The crisp sound of bones breaking came from within the mist. The crocodile was hurled onto shore, howled once, twisted and struggled, then fell still.
After knocking down one, Su He lay motionless. The thick mist covered everything, and he could not see clearly. Even if he dove underwater and looked up, he could only see halfway. It hindered him too much.
At this moment, a great battle had erupted across the lake. Water boomed like cannon fire, and Su He did not want to wade into those muddy waters. This was a war belonging to Snake Valley.
The Old Crocodile's cries mingled with snake hisses.
The sounds of splashing and fighting came from everywhere.
Su He listened intently when the thick mist before him suddenly vanished—not vanished, but no longer affecting Su He. The Green Crocodiles still could not see or smell.
The Green Snake had lifted her restriction on him.
At the shore, the Green Snake was coiled around that Three Zhang Giant Crocodile, strangling it with all her strength. The giant crocodile rolled endlessly, smashing the Green Snake toward the jagged rocks on shore.
The Green Snake was drenched in blood.
So fragile—she could not even withstand rocks!
The Green Snake cried out in pain, yet she dared not let go. Beside her, another crocodile bit a Giant Python in half, making the Green Snake cry out anxiously.
"Hiss! Hiss!"
The Green Snake cried for help. She wanted Su He to join the battle and aid the other snakes.
But Su He ignored her. Instead, he paddled over to the Green Snake's side, bit the hind leg of the giant crocodile she had wrapped up, and spun in the opposite direction.
Crack—rip!
Su He tore off one of its legs.
