Su He let out an "Aang!"
"It's you, Da Zhuang!"
The camel's drunken eyes widened as it stared at Su He. It snorted a few times.
Where did this little turtle come from? Not much skill, but plenty of nerve—daring to call Camel Master by name. Who are you?
Its snorts could actually convey complete sentences, rather than being like ordinary beasts, merely piling together simple words.
"Aang~ Aang aang~" Su He sang out at length.
Me! A year ago, at Listening Sea Lake, I peed all over your face! A year ago, when the Slovenly Old Daoist was preaching, this camel had been drinking beside him. When it got excited, it had used Su He as a ball in mid-air. After it rammed him in the belly, Su He hadn't been able to hold it in.
???
The camel froze in astonishment. It shook its head wildly, then stumbled back onto its haunches, staring at Su He in a daze. It stretched out its two forehooves, gesturing a tiny circle the size of a plate, then a huge circle so large it could not encompass it.
Its big, sparkling eyes seemed to be speaking: My little turtle is this tiny, adorable thing. You're such a huge ugly monster. You think you can fool Camel Master?
Su He's gaze was clear as he nodded earnestly.
Still unconvinced, the camel flared its nostrils and sniffed hard at his breath.
Stripping away the sacred aura of a Dragon Turtle, there remained the earthy scent of a turtle. It was a little familiar... very familiar! After having urine splashed all over its face, Su He's scent had been branded into its mind.
It really was you!
The camel shot to its feet—standing upright on its two hind legs—then thumped several steps backward before falling to the ground again, staring at Su He in disbelief.
"Snort, snort..." The sounds carried no meaning, but its eyes were speaking: How did this thing grow so huge in just one year?
The scene looked vaguely familiar. Very Disney.
What an extraordinarily intelligent camel.
After its shock faded, it proudly snorted a few times at Xia Da Li.
The rough meaning was: No need to inspect him anymore. This is my turtle! It sprang up and strode over to Su He with an arrogantly proud gait. Raising a hoof, it wanted to pat Su He's shoulder, but only after lifting it into the air did it realize Su He had no shoulders. Stepping on his turtle head did not seem quite right either, and its hoof dangled awkwardly with nowhere to go.
Thoughtfully, Su He stretched out a claw and high-fived it.
Yeah! The camel was satisfied. The look in its eyes changed to: You're pretty sensible, little bro.
It bumped against Su He's shell and snorted twice, telling Su He it had business today and would treat him to a drink later... or perhaps take him to steal the old Daoist's wine.
Beast Language did not express things so precisely, but the meaning was close enough.
It raised its brows at Xia Da Li and snorted, telling him it acknowledged this turtle, but it had business today and would be leaving first.
Its gaze flickered toward Su Hua Nian. It wanted to look at her, but did not dare.
Su Hua Nian had beaten it before.
Two years ago, it had taken Feng Ya Ya to Evergreen Peak to steal wine. Feng Ya Ya had been drunk for three whole days, and Su Hua Nian had hung it up and beaten it for three days.
It stole a glance at her. Seeing that Su Hua Nian did not seem inclined to beat it, it raised its voice and shouted toward the Grass Hut.
The rough meaning was: Little brat, next time we'll steal from somewhere else. Evergreen Peak won't allow it, but other places surely will.
After shouting that, it turned and ran, terrified that Su Hua Nian would catch up.
Su Hua Nian's dark brows knit together. She could not understand Beast Language, but she had the feeling that the camel had not said anything nice. She looked toward Xia Da Li, only to find him seriously studying the Mandarin Duck Buckle on his chest.
Not stealing from Beast Taming Valley—how wonderful!
"I'll see you off!" Su He let out an "Aang!" and chased after the camel, charging out of the formation.
The camel turned back. Snort~ I'm going to find the old Daoist. The place is special; you won't be able to enter.
Su He shook his head. Aang~ I'm going to kill someone.
The camel's eyes lit up. Snort, snort~~ snort!
Kill the old Daoist? I'll keep watch for you?
Su He: Aang... aang?
No, I'm going to... Wait, who are you killing? Turtle and camel blinked their big eyes at each other, and the air fell still.
The camel grew guilty under his stare. It quietly turned its head and began seriously studying the flowers beneath the tree. These flowers were truly strange, blooming even in this season.
Inside the formation, Xia Da Li and Su Hua Nian fell silent for a moment. Su Hua Nian asked, "You knew long ago that this turtle was the one Elder Ge encountered last year?"
Xia Da Li smiled. "I didn't know, but I had more or less guessed it. Listening Sea Lake is only so large. Having one exceptionally spiritual turtle emerge from it was already tremendous good fortune—how could two appear in succession? And one of them even has Divine Beast Bloodline?"
The greatest possibility was that the two turtles were one and the same. Although Elder Ge's description made their sizes seem worlds apart, Xia Da Li had seen Su He's age. He was not even three years old.
To grow to this size before reaching three, he had likely Awakened his Divine Beast Bloodline only after meeting Elder Ge, then grown this large within a year.
Such things were not uncommon in the cultivation world.
"Other than this turtle, anyone who likely knew had probably guessed it. If Elder Ge's Third Body were not so special that it made people instinctively overlook him, this turtle would probably have thought of it long ago as well."
Senior Sister Su should have been able to see through something like this, right? Didn't you ask the turtle? Oh, right—you don't understand Beast Language. Xia Da Li suddenly felt proud.
He looked toward Su Hua Nian, only to hear her question again, "Why did you encourage him to seek revenge?"
"How did I? I was stopping him..."
Su Hua Nian stared at him. "Not only did you point out Lu Ming's whereabouts and condition, you even specifically introduced Camel to him. Is that Camel some kind of good fellow?"
"Fine, I did." Xia Da Li admitted bluntly. "He is a divine turtle, a divine turtle belonging to the Azure Origin Sect. But the Azure Origin Sect has performed far too poorly. They Schemed Against him time and again; Sect Leader Senior Brother even wanted to place restrictions on him, preventing him from venting that resentment. I fear that sooner or later, this turtle will develop a rift in his heart. Fleeing far away would already be the best outcome."
Not only had he instigated it, but according to sect rules, Lu Ming should have been executed outright. Xia Da Li had been the one to arrange his release, cripple his cultivation, and throw him there.
If he was to be executed anyway, why not let the turtle do it himself? Some grudges had to be avenged with one's own hands before the knot In the Heart could ease.
Had Sect Leader Senior Brother lost his mind? Why had he kept doing such inexplicable things over this past Sixty Years? He was utterly unlike the Wind Gentleman whom people had admired for Three Hundred Years! In merely Sixty Years, what had Senior Brother done? The sect he had worked so hard to build had developed such awful habits among its disciples in just Sixty Years?
Where had the atmosphere of brotherly friendship, mutual respect, and affection from back then gone? Everywhere she looked, there was only petty scrambling and all manner of Schemed Against! Su Hua Nian said nothing. She disliked such matters, but neither did she detest them. She neither supported nor opposed them.
She only hoped that turtle would not become Immersed in the thrill brought by revenge.
Su Hua Nian gave a slight nod. Seventy-two Silver Needles beside the Artifact Refining Furnace Flew Out like schooling fish, darting beyond the formation.
The atmosphere between Su He and Camel was somewhat awkward. Just as Su He was considering saying something to ease it, a row of Silver Needles flew over and embedded themselves into Turtle Mountain. A glimmer of light Fell Into Su He's brow—it was the method for controlling the Silver Needles.
What a sinister artifact.
Camel shuddered and stared at Su He in shock. "Huff? You really are going to kill someone? This artifact was clearly made for ambushing people. It's practically a hidden weapon!" Su He nodded.
Camel pawed twice at the ground.
It liked fighting too, but it had a mission and could not leave, which made it itch with impatience. It Turned Head, yanked out a handful of camel hair from its body, spat it onto Su He Turtle's Turtle Mountain, then stamped a hoofprint onto Su He's forehead.
Su He understood. This was Camel's divine ability. If spiritual energy detonated the mark on his forehead, this camel hair would unleash Camel's Full Power Strike.
This Camel was a Profound Moon Exotic Beast, equivalent to a cultivator in the Demon Transformation Realm. Its single blow could collapse a mountain.
Another life-saving trump card.
Wealth, Companions, Techniques, Location—Su He felt that Companions were actually the most important! The cultivation world was not just about fighting and killing; it was also about human relationships and worldly dealings.
Without Su Hua Nian, he would have long since been placed under restrictions and made into a beast pet.
Camel knocked its hoof against Su He's turtle shell, gave him an encouraging look, then spread its four hooves and galloped away with a clatter. As it ran, it simply vanished into thin air.
It had originally been in the Special Space where Old Daoist Ge was. Old Daoist Ge could not come out for the time being, and he was eager to see the divine turtle who had obtained his secret manual, so he had used a special method to send Camel out.
This Camel possessed exceptional intelligence and was perfectly suited to help him inspect the turtle. Since he had obtained our cultivation art, he had to be our turtle!
Su He watched Camel leave, then turned toward Elephant Water.
Jing Shui Mountain... Jing Shui Mountain... where was it again?
The Jade Slip Old Daoist Ge had shown him last year contained a map of the Azure Origin Sect, but Jing Shui Mountain was merely a small mountain, and Su He could not recall it for the moment.
He submerged himself in the water and racked his mind to remember.
Wang An Mountain... Lun Ri Mountain... Tian Gu Mountain... Jing Shui Mountain.
He remembered!
